Alright, quick thread.

There's a phrase going around, old phrase that's been around

"Love God. Love people"

It's the summary of Christianity. It's what we do, game, set, match. Simple. To the point. We love God. love people.

Yes, but here's my question:
How do you love God?
Here's what I'm noticing.

Most Christian's agree with the above: But when you ask them how do you love God? They list ways that they love people.

Actually what they usually say is a list of ways they are nice to people (I'll come back to this)

That's one way to love God, sure.
But it's sort of like loving your wife, by being nice to your kids.

Yes, great - yay children -but what have you done directly for you wife? Do you talk to her? Listen to her? Spend time with her? Move around your schedule to make her a priority?
Same with God.

How do you love God?
Not his children, but God directly.

Do you talk to him? (Pray)
Do you listen to him? (Read the bible)
Do you spend time with him? (Devotions)
Do you carve out time in your day to show him your are a priority? (going to church)
Objection: no, I don't do that stuff but I love God BY loving his people.

Sure. But when you say that - do you mean "I'm nice to people I like"?

Because some folk are patting themselves on the back for the bare minimum of human decency.

As it says, "even the sinners do that"
Loving God means loving GOD. Making him a priority. Praising him. Worshipping him. Taking time for Him. everyday

And loving people, means loving them all - even when it's hard. Even when they're jerks. Or on the wrong political side. Even when we don't feel like it.
What I'm trying to say is that
"Love God. Love People."
Is very cute, and simple, but it is not easy.

Don't let the simplicity fool you.
Love takes dedication, hard work and years of patience.

Carry on you crazy people.
