This week& #39;s posts are dedicated to promoting the #VarietyOfOT

We will be posting threads each day on the WHO, WHERE, WHAT, WHEN and HOW of #occupationaltherapy

Day 2: WHERE do occupational therapists work?
Occupational therapists can work in schools, with children and young people, to enable them to reach their full potential.

Here is a leaflet by the RCOT about OTs in schools:

Occupational therapists can work in acute physical hospitals.

Many newly qualified OTs start off in acute hospital rotations to learn about the #VarietyOfOT

OTs work to prevent hospital admissions, reduce hospital stay, and provide safe discharges home.

Occupational therapists can work in acute mental health hospitals (including secure hospitals with forensic patients).

Here you can find a simple guide to what OTs in mental health settings do. It is American, but things don& #39;t differ too much in the UK:

Community occupational therapists really show us the #VarietyOfOT!

You can find community OTs in people& #39;s homes and the places those people go to engage in their occupations - shops, gyms, community centres, faith buildings, local parks and more!
Vocational rehab OTs aim to enable people to seek, return to, maintain, or change employment.

Here you can find the RCOT specialist section for Work. The leaflet on this page is very informative, and they have some brilliant case studies to read:

There are many more areas of #OT practice - this thread is just a taste of what& #39;s out there :)
