A story my sister told me that I think is worth sharing:
She lives in Lewes and last week went walking on the Downs above the town where she happened upon an old boy resting and struck up conversation. He told how despite being 93 he still climbs up the hills every day....
....just as he has throughout his life, having lived in the town since birth. It subsequently transpires that he has indeed been doing this for a long time as it was this old man who, as a schoolboy, in 1941, looking down on the town from above. noticed a body in the river....
....and ran down to summon help. It was Virginia Woolf. She'd filled her pockets with stones and walked into the River Ouse a month earlier.
