An important film that exploited the genre of sci-fi-like never before on the Indian Screen. It is an ambitious film with tremendous performances, intelligent writing, and technical crafting.

A FAN Thread on Suriya - Vikram K Kumar's 24.
Before getting into the details, I always love the tender emotions of Vikram K Kumar. Look at this scene, Suriya character declares that his little boy will be given the name of his mother as his last name. Waah. You deserve all the love, Vikram Sir.
The superstitious feelings always occur in the characters of Vikram Kumar. In Manam, where Krishna says, I don't like seeing a Knife cutting the name of my son in the cake. Here, Nithya Menen's character warns Sethuraman, that playing with TIME could have an adverse reaction.
When Sethuraman is seen an elegant, soft, scientist, who is loving and caring. "Laali Jo" song plays in the background. And it is blended by the introduction of character Athreya, the wicked character. They are rather elegantly designed shots, stylized, but not gory!
Athreya-Sethuraman's rivalry needs no justification. There were wars all over the past. We see Vaali-Sugriva in Ramayana. And the whole of Kurushketra was fought by the cousins. And Aalavadhan also.

PS. Athreya introduced playing music and the credit of AR Rahman appears.
The difference between a masculine wicked person and the farsighted calm person is LOGIC. The way Sethuraman creates a sense of fear in Athreya, even after dying justifies it. And what a love shot (Pic 4) a mother-son relationship is already born.
Vikram Kumar's writing and miracles are synonyms, I think. Anyways, Athreya wakes up from a 26-long-year coma with the help of an eagle. He despises his old age now. More than revenge or anything, It is a need for him to go back to the past. btw, his best friend is called Mitra.
I think the commercial cinema should also allow the audience to speculate and figure things. There should be some clues, mysteries, and so on you know. And this was not even bright and, it was so subtle. However, Kudos to the director. Whoa!
The heart of the film, the scene where Mani gets the power that everybody in the world dreams about. The power of controlling the time in your hands. Such a brilliantly layered it was. And look at the range of Suriya, he conveys the emotions of surprise, shock through his eyes!
Why is he made a watch mechanic? Because he has to apply the trial and error approach evermore. He will always be curious about the functioning of the watches he repairs. Mani could guess it all within several minutes with his impeccable curiosity.
In this thoughtfully picturized song, the protagonist only thinks he's fortunate. He declares that he has a weapon for world peace. He feels this isn't an illusion, this is a gift against the odds and towards the unity.
I still remember the romantic scenes of the film have got mixed responses, but I find them entertaining. These scenes also take the story forward. Mani would come to know the irony of the time, as it doesn't be profitable always.
And I'm a watch mechanic-nga is hilarious! 😅
Another wonderful scene where the hero uses his magic for an emphatic purpose. As-usual subtle emotional-play by Vikram Kumar Sir. And Loads to accolades to Tirru Sir and team for pitch-perfect visuals.
One of the most shocking and intriguing intervals blocks ever. And looking at detailing, there's a huge piece of a man breaking away from the time is seen behind Athreya. It depicts his Lust towards immortality. Another reference is the chant of "Aayushman Bhava" is heard often.
This post-interval scene is again brilliantly written, where Athreya gets to know the reason for the name "project 24", and the hero is already dead, and he needs to given life again. Athreya is cruel and the director's touch is he asks his friend Mitra to join him to the past.
Vikram Kumar not only breaks the cliche but also breaks the way the most rational obvious. Here, we think the hero will crack the puzzle, but what we get is the hero being trapped in the vicious circle of Athreya, the antagonist. Suriya is just rocking. Like as-usual
This scene elevates the character protagonist. Brilliantly performed by Saranya, and Suriya's reactions are stupendous. It makes us emotional where Mani thinks that it's his responsibility to take his foster mother to the family which abandoned her. Delicate and Neat.
This is a nice scene I thought of mentioning. Mani's mother reaches her home precisely five minutes before 6'o clock when the self-imposed restriction of not speaking would break. It is also funny. And Look at the Suriya's reaction in Pic 4. Sincere actor!!
This scene and the Athreya's killer-smile at the end. Whoa! I think some of the portions were deleted in the Hotstar version. To be frank, the movie looks almost seamless until now. Extremely engaging.
This is another layered where Vikram Kumar plays an interesting game with the audience. We think Athreya goes and talks to Sathya, in reality, he is Mani. And we think Mani would catch the actual truth from Mithra, but the mastermind of Athreya sways. Cleverly written.
The scene where the Actor Suriya and the STAR Suriya both win the game. Again, the format of delivery something unexpected, something more intriguing. I really wish to read the script now! I wish I could someday. Vikram Sir. Saalam to you. Suriya, of course, đŸ”„đŸ”„đŸ”„
The return of Athreya. Subtle, but ample. 👍
"The first time-traveler." Perhaps, the time-travel wasn't this emotional ever, I guess. It was more flamboyant, scientific, and stuff. 24 makes it Indian. Emotional, dramatic, and Intelligent at the same time.
Haan. The cycle comes to a nice end. The climax episode feels like a rush. Not that it is less-intriguing. I liked the way the expressions are given super importance. Be it Suriya or Nitya Menen, their reactions were exceptional. Overall, it was a sharp episode that worked well.
Suriya's eyes appreciation thread - I mean I had watched Vaaranam Aayiram a hundred times and the amuses with his performance are not an unusual thing. But, 24 is the only recent film that exploited his strengths to the maximum. Just Look at the weightage given for his eyes!
Cinematographer Tirru appreciation Thread. 🙏
Finally, Thank You Vikram K Kumar Sir for an exhilarating sci-fi ride. Keep giving us the material that challenges mentally and moves emotionally. More Power to you.

I hope it was a fair read to all the readers here.
