Btw: As a former Shiite I've read and heard more than once Shia clerics *emphasising* how despite their differences with Sufis, to them, the Sufis are the best 'Sunnis' who should be *strengthened* against the 'Wahhabis'.

This is becsuse the (esoteric/Batini type) of Sufis agree with many beloved Shia rituals like grave veneration, the invocation of the saints etc.

This is why Iran's main targets in Africa are West and North Africa's Sufis (Iran tried hard but had barely any success among Somalis due to to strong Sunni scholarship amongst Somalis and the fact that Sufism isn't as rampant among them as in other regions of Africa).
