1. The Petition filed by our Trustee @ShreehariK before the Karnataka HC was listed today before the bench comprising Hon. Chief Justice and Jus. K N Phaneendra. The CJ remarked that Govt having undertaken the mgmt of temples is responsible to ensure the survival of the Archakas.
2. CJ further stated that since the present scenario of religious places being closed for public is likely to continue, Govt must give relief to Archakas as an interim measure, like it was done in the case of construction workers, where money was transferred directly to Bank A/c.
3. It was submitted that although the Government has been promising relief for the Archakas, nothing has yet materialized, not even the ration kit promised for all Archakas is being distributed and majority Archakas haven't received it.
4. Justice Phaneendra remarked that the condition of Archakas is precarious when there are no devotees coming. CJ, while concurring, called upon Govt Advocate to explain how the Archakas are to maintain themselves in this situation.
5. The High Court has instructed the Government to submit its response in writing by Wednesday next week i.e., 27/May/2020.
