will overworking himself in the infirmary a lot because of how often campers get injured and nico lightens the load by helping him out and bringing him food because sometimes will forgets to eat because his job is fucking stressful

will is a little shit that eats off of his siblings' plates??? for no reason really he just does. he's that person that says they're not hungry but if you bring back food there he is
sometimes in the books it feels like will is the only medic talked about?? like the other apollo kids help out as much as they can but he's just THE medic and needs all the help he can get and sometimes nico just forces him to take a step back and breathe to keep him
from getting overwhelmed because he has the weight of all these people and their lives on his shoulders all the time. will is generally really calm but some days it's overwhelming
and will is definitely one of those people that looks after everyone else before himself which isn't good to do all the time
a lot of the time they get the general medical stuff shipped to the camp (imagine the constant confusion of delivery guys dropping off a bunch of fucking gauze and antiseptic at a STRAWBERRY FIELD) but sometimes will and some of his siblings and nico make a quick trip out of it
(when things are calm and they can actually leave w/o drawing so much attention)
nico likes making him blush just to see his ears turn red cause it's the cutest shit he's ever seen pls
nico lets will cut his hair whenever it gets too long and it's just a really intimate thing??? i dunno
nico likes playing with will's layers of bracelets (some of which are from the younger campers who thank him for taking care of them and being nice)
will's great with the younger kiddos?? like im imagining some of these 7-10 year olds sitting by the lake doing arts and craft projects with him in between his shifts at the infirmary
this is kind of a crack one but will glows a little bit when he gets excited idc
he likes bumping his and nico's shoulders a lot (when they're sitting obvs. nico is SHORT short)
he's close with all of his siblings but he's the closest to kayla and austin. he let's kayla experiment with dyes on him or different hairstyles (he grows his hair out during the winter) and whenever austin is trying out a new song, he runs it by will whenever he's free
i don't remember anything canon about will's music ability but i feel like he's inept like he just CAN'T
will is canonically part of the welcoming committee at camp and it's for a reason. he's just a really cool guy that has a friendly face and people naturally gravitate towards him

he does door to door stops to check in on everyone and to make sure the campers are taking their meds.
the aphrodite cabin and the apollo cabin convince chiron to schedule nights where the whole camp participates in self care and just takes it easy. that means skin care, hair care, and any activites where you get to unwind
because it's mostly a bunch of younger kids and teenagers who deserve to get to be kids and not feel like fighters ALL the time ya know so he let's them and they just do stuff like that
neither will or nico are big on pda cause what for?? i mean they lean against each other and will rests his arm on nico's head but they leave a lot of it for private? i feel like they're that kind of couple.
they're sickly sweet and fluffy but they're also little shits to one another. i'm talking sarcastic and snarky banter all of the time
in the first couple months they don't date lol we've all read the infirmary fics and im just not a fan. nico is getting used to all of this and workjng through stuff and i think he ultimately just needs friends and that's what he gets and that's what will is to him for awhile
his snarky, bossy, and wildly vibrant friend who sucks at playing the guitar but does it just to get a chuckle out of him and things are super easy and i've talked about it before but they're both around death to the extreme
so it's something--not that they bond over--but something they get about each other.
will's nose crinkles when he smiles and nico listens to his medical rants and about his issues with those dumb as fuck tik tok nurses
will gets so swamped sometimes that time passes without him noticing and either austin, kayla, or nico remind him not to forget his t shot
and he makes sure that all campers that are binding have quality binders instead of ace bandages because they're not good. and there were an influx of younger campers that used them and also never took them off and were bruised all over
he had to heartbreakingly tell them they had to stop until their bodies healed properly but the kids found comfort in the infirmary so he let them stay there as much as they wanted.
he makes sure all trans and nonbinary campers that bind are all informed of binder safety and he makes an effort to make the infirmary a safe space for them especially because of the complicated relationship typically had with hospitals and how invasive some of this stuff is
i read a few months ago that dionysus is the patron god of trans and intersex people so that makes things a lot easier for making the camp better for them and will and him collaborate a lot on stuff
oh yeah so will remembers how much he didn't like not binding before he got his top surgery so he gives them these giant hoodies to try and ease the feeling
another trans will headcanon: so naomi was a famous alternative country singer right? making bank? so she ofc pays for his top surgery when he's old enough to get it and she's also his biggest supporter. his rock.
and so it hurt sometimes when he would off to camp and couldn't see her for extended amounts of time because he's so close with his momma. it gets harder during trials of apollo when communication is down so he can't even talk to her and let her know he's okay.

michael yew and lee fletcher are the touchiest subjects around their cabin. they don't talk about their deaths for a really long time and kind of gloss over why will is their cabin counselor and just appreciate him for being it.
he's cold all the time???? he just is?? if it's not 60+ degrees outside then it's fucking COLD and he needs a hoodie but even then all weather is hoodie weather but imagine how it is now that he mostly lives in NEW YORK that gets snow all the time

can't and they won't let him. he never felt more useless.
i say 13 because i feel like lee and michael try to put off when he'll have to start doing the healing stuff for as long as possible cause it's a lot of pressure on a kid. and even 13 is still a kid but they have to teach him at some point
and there's times after that where he does get to check over people and their wounds and help them but something goes wrong and after some time he just...accepts it to the best of his abilities

people feel about them anymore because i honestly haven't read any solangelo discussions in a few years but i really do feel like will and him are two sides of the same coin and are alike in a lot of ways
they just turned out pretty different because they had varying types of support. will most likely had some and nico didn't because he didn't want any for the longest time and when percy wanted to look after him, he rejected him. can you blame him?
he blames percy for bianca's death and wanted to hate him but didn't and percy just wouldn't leave him alone. all he wanted was his sister back and then he felt all alone with the whole being a son of hades thing. so anyway i think they're similar to one another
and they're equals in a lot of ways too. i feel like that's why they work so well. there's no idolization involved. it's just will and nico.
but anyway the whole death thing. nico can see people's life force and when they're dying. i think a lot of the time when will is trying to save someone he never enjoys being there for it because he always sees it first and it's hard to see his friend and eventual boyfriend
get sad like that. but he does because he wants to offer support in anyway he can.
with quests, even if they're small, they never say goodbye. never. it's just not something they do.
the entirety of their relationship is a slow progression of figuring out what works for them and giving each other the space to do it.
i think it's important to highlight the months i think they were friends vs when they eventually become boyfriends because i think nico had a lot of healing and feelings and needs to navigate
and he has to be at a point where he can healthily respond to /someone else's/
i think it's also about being open with each other about things and at first that's hard for nico because he's never had to so it before but it gets easier. it definitely takes longer than just a few months which is why i feel like they're still working through it presently in
the current continuity of the books and i think it's about accommodating /each other/ and acknowledging each other's needs while also not
pushing their /own/ stuff aside. they of course make mistakes along the way and have a few missteps because they're 1) human and 2) 15 year old teenagers but ya know
i think their relationship last for a really long time
and i know right? what type of teenage relationship lasts when you're constantly growing and changing? and the truth is that they don't always and being a teenager is messy and complicated especially when emotionally stunted but i dunno? they do.
they sleep together some nights when nico is having trouble sleeping. no funny business, it's purely innocent. when they do that nico likes tracing the line of freckles on his face until he falls asleep
will also has to sleep on the side closest to the fan and act as a shield from the air because what the fuck solace?

nico isn't a big eater? even after he has a more regulated food schedule, eats more, gains his skin color back, and isn't malnourished anymore, he just doesn't have a big appetite so anything he doesn't eat he just slides over to will to finish it off
will takes his role as cabin counselor very seriously. he wants to be someone lee and michael would be proud of. he's present at every counselor meeting and kayla is his second in command.
naomi (oomf) and i had a really brief talk yesterday about the apollo cabin and they are totally in charge of making sure the demigods that go to school have all the proper medical paperwork.
they take care of their physicals, check ups, and shots because a mortal doctor doing it can cause lots of issues they want to avoid altogether.
kayla and austin split inventory duty. austin takes care of all the medicine in the infirmary and gets prescriptions ready. they convince the hephaestus cabin to make them a special cabinet for all of it.
will has the worst hand writing ever that's only legible to him (kayla jokes its worse than his doctor scrawl) but they all get used to it.
the apollo cabin is the backbone of the infirmary but they work closely with other cabins like hebe, hecate, demeter, and hypnos. it's the most helpful thing ever because the infirmary can get really under staffed with how many people get hurt (on the climbing wall especially)
the hypnos cabin helps with insomniac patients mostly. they can't do a lot to /stop/ dreams because there is no telling when a dream will be a vital piece of information. the only time they get to is when the oracles go silent cause then??? there's no point???
the hebe cabin supplies them with ambrosia and nectar and helps w healing sometimes. the hecate cabin has spells and potions that really help out with pain if regular pain medication doesn't work and other healing things idk
the apollo cabin and them are always working together to get the most out of helping people. will and lou-ellen collaborate the most and toss ideas back and forth. the demeter cabin is how they get the best fresh herbs they need.
the supply runs i mentioned tweets ago call for planning in advance and they don't happen that often in regular circumstances. austin and kayla (and a few volunteers) take inventory of everything and make estimates about how long stuff will last.
mortal medicine expires so they have to keep that in mind. and if they don't order things and do the supply runs then they have to do it on a day that no one'll need the van since it'll be a few hours of driving. austin gets full control of the aux.
lou-ellen usually goes with them and uses the mist to change their appearances because what self respecting supplier just gives stuff to a bunch of teenagers. it gives her the extra practice so she doesn't mind.
when campers get in trouble they either have dishes duty or they have to help out in the infirmary. typically they do unboxing and organizing stuff for the supply closet or changing bed sheets of unoccupied beds cause they aren't trusted to do anything else but it helps a lot so
after the war, the romans stay for a few weeks and the infirmary occupies the single floor it's given in the big house so it's a stressful few weeks to say the least. there aren't a lot of healers on duty and they never prepared for a shift schedule tailored to
the circumstances because who prepares for a whole other camp to occupy their supplies, space, and staff. they do start integrating unicorn drought into their medicines though.
they aim for 1 theatre production a year since it takes time bc they have other things to do always. this helps when a lot of them don't go to school and can't have drama club experiences like this. austin has a binder of musicals and he picks them depending on which of his
siblings are interested so that he knows to pick one for their registers. even so, they mostly do plays because those get better reception. and rarely anyone outside of them are interested in the acting part so they never do romances and always have to double cast.
kayla and the aphrodite kids are in charge of costuming and hair. a few athena and hephaestus kids lend their time to do set design and set building. because of this they also collab and specially design lighting rigs for every production because who doesn't appreciate
intricate lighting design? they have to talk it over with austin about the script and what he imagines for it a lot since he takes the lead on every production they do. anybody else that wants to be part of it are stage hands that aren't already covered. lou-ellen uses her
control over the mist to do affects they can't achieve as cleanly. austin asks the athena cabin about their interpretations of scenes or if there's a better way they could convey something. he adds underscoring music to every play as an own personal touch.
everybody always jokes about how it's good will isn't much of a fighter because he literally knows where all the most important and sensitive parts of the body are and could just like,,,,,end you if he wanted.
will and nico have nights where they hate watch doctor shows. more so on will's side than anything because nico doesn't have much medical knowledge except what he acquires through him and the minimal work he does in the infirmary but he loves the adorable sounds of disapproval
that come from will and he loves to listen to him talk passionately about medical inaccuracies ("who SAYS 'i think they're in cardiac arrest!' and aren't doing chest compressions????") so it becomes a thing.
if will was into the youtube thing he would be doctor mike on youtube that reacts to medical dramas and talks about the field (except with less composure than doctor mike)
things at camp are a lot calmer during the winter months and there are a lot less campers so it's their chillest months (pun intended). i like the idea that their energy levels work in conjunction with the sun which LOL
at some point down the line, they get a few younger campers and they're eager about the day they're able to shadow will at the infirmary but until then they do paperwork and filing. busy work mostly.
will wears an ace bandage on his wrist not occupied with bracelets and is always unwrapping it and wrapping it. he also bounces his leg a lot and paces absently when he's not tending to anyone.
austin plays music in their cabin a lot and none of them ever mind because they all love it but even if they did mind who would dare tell him? he likes being in a cabin full of siblings he can just talk about music to and they know that and they don't ever want him to feel
like he can't talk to them about it. will is the one that encouraged him to start a youtube channel cause lots of people would love to hear his music and his thoughts so they spend like a whole weekend between their shifts setting it up and what his first video can be about.
they had to ask kayla to give them said shift change to do it (she's in charge of it because if it was up to will he would do overtime) so their breaks can match up and they owe her for but it was worth it.
i don't think the apollo cabin is too small but i also don't feel like it's as big as the others.

will loves cheese toast and his mama used to make it all the time when he was younger and it's a comfort food especially when he misses her. he also only eats the edges of cookies.

he used to really love superheroes growing up to the point that he drew comics of him and school friends but when becoming a makeshift one became his reality and he started to lose family and friends because they had to be heroes...it wasn't comforting anymore.
he's a really good artist but he doesn't do it that much

i don't really know how to talk about his relationship with death because he's a doctor who saves people and hates when he can't but because he's a doctor he's come to understand death in a very specific way that he doesn't dislike death as a /thing/. does that make sense?
