Sure Middle-Class (MC) suffers. But there are some peculiar things about that suffering. The first one is the most obvious one - the suffering is mostly a reduction of privilege. Having to use one car instead of two. Having to rely on the scooter instead of the car. Having to..
...go to a shop instead of the mall. It's often not a life and death situation. It's more like inconvenience. The second interesting thing is the solution. The MC often doesn't blame those above it - ministers, governments, senior bureaucrats - for its "suffering". It blames...
...those below it. Those who have much less than it does and those who suffer much more than the MC does. Why does the MC do this? It has to do with social mobility. The MC is aspirational. It wants to be ministers, bureaucrats, and government. It's not going to criticise them.
They are its own, parts of the sabhya samaj it imagines itself as part of. So the only time MC brings up its "suffering" is when someone calls out its privilege. Its a "suffering" that only exists in a specific context. It exists as a defence. It's always an "I also suffer".
If the MC is serious about doing something about its suffering (which may very well be genuine in many cases), it should start raising the issue with governments, higher-ups, bureaucrats in charge of public services, and public representatives. Without that, it's all theatre.
