We (all of us who are dèhadhārī) inherit three debts

1. Pitru ruNa (पितृ ऋण)
2. Dèva ruNa (देव ऋण)
3. Rushi ruNa (ऋषी ऋण)

The aim of everyone who is a dèhadhāri (or a jīva who is prospective dèhadhāri) is to pay back these three debts (either fully or in instalment). https://twitter.com/kal_chiron/status/907807415998889985
Pitru-ruNa : we exist in the body due to our ancestors (parents being our latest ancestor). They were grateful enough to give us body so that we can do dharma

शरीरं आद्यं खलु धर्म साधनम् (physical body is the foremost tool to do dharma)

Without a body and sādhanā impossible.
Please refer to this thread for importance of having a human body in our overall journey towards amrutatva.

Hence repaying pitru-ruNa must be one of the foremost duties of every dèhadhāri (exceptions are always there, of course).

How to pay back pitru-ruNa ?

By continuing the lineage. By procreating children and giving them all the necessary sanskāra so that they grow up to be dhārmik individuals.

Along with this, propitiation all the expired Pitara properly and duly as per the kula-dharma.
Out of the tridèva, pitru-ruNa is owed to brahmadeva. For he is father to us all. So he is our ultimate pitara (hence called param-pitā).
