1. I am mourning for my friends and acquaintances who are losing their jobs and businesses. When the lock down began in March, this was the first repercussion that crossed my mind. The cure was going to be worse than the disease; it is now coming to fruition.
2. I cannot even fathom the number of people across this nation who will be without their job or their business. Their blood, sweat, and tears shed for years, in hopes of achieving their dream, are gone in one fell swoop. It reminds me of a time in the history books.
3. My grandparents lived through the Great Depression and miraculously found a way to survive. I recall their heart-breaking stories of losing it all and how they eventually made a comeback.
4. Bartering for staple items, getting credit at the local stores, and hand-shake deals proved to be fundamental to their recovery. No food went to waste as every morsel was necessary for survival.
5. They managed to buy their farm back, day by day, crop by crop, year by year. Their faith and perseverance did not waiver.
6. Persistence and hope will be imperative to help those in need during our dark time, post lock down. Hindsight at this point, and playing the blame game, is useless for those feeling this financial devastation.
7. Instead, they will need a shoulder to on, an ear to listen, and a heart to understand. Maybe history will teach us how to mentor and give during this time. I will do my part to help.
