Honestly showing Zuko’s backstory in season 1 (ep. the storm) was soooo important to humanizing Zuko. It made him easier to understand and his character development later on was only supplemented by that episode in season one. BEST SHOW EVER

then the fire nation finding the deflated war balloon. Another reason I love this show, it offered actual war mechanics like innovation in weapons and industry and the working parts of a war- the inventors, the bureaucrats play a big part too even if they’re not in the military
