I originally watched the duel monsters dub in high school bc I was recruited by my friends who were yugioh cosplayers to dress as bakura. I gave up a little ways into gx after the “hot sauce” episode. This time I’m watching it subbed.

Major takeaways so far:
1) yami yugi is baby
2) both of the bakuras are also baby
3) it’s weird how even when the lines don’t change that much the way they’re delivered in the sub really impacts the characterization
4) I can’t believe Pegasus still sounds like that

It’s kinda incredible just how dumb yugioh is. Like it’s goofier than jojo in some ways but yet something about it makes you really feel and believe it in the moment while you’re watching it.

Kaiba is such a funny character like he’s such a dick to everyone for no reason even when it’s directly against his self interest. Someone invites him over to talk about something other than card games and he immediately threatens to leave. Incredible.
