The dumbest professor I had in college just went on the 538 podcast to say some unbelievably dumb things about "conspiracy theories". A few anecdotes below:
Uscinski, the prof, was an avid John McCain supporter during the '08 election. At the time I was a liberal and was volunteering for the Obama campaign. I wore an Obama t-shirt to class one day and I think from that point on he hated me.
He started a bunch of classes explaining to us how McCain was going to win the election and we were all dumb for supporting Obama. This continued even when all the polls indicated Obama was going to win by a comfortable margin - something I mentioned to him. He didn't like that.
His research was incredibly sloppy. He consistently confused correlation for causation. I was a bit of a know it all and would point that out to him.
I should also note that his class was generally considered an easy A among the student body. Half the class would be asleep during his lectures despite his attempts to be some sort of provocative conservative or something.
I honestly thought he was too dumb to every make it past associate professor, but apparently if you're a conservative, you'll get enough Koch money to propel you to "expert" status on a 538 podcast.
