Barça's "3-box-3" (3-2-2-3) build up formation vs AC Milan, CL 12/13.

- FB dynamics: LB/Alba staying deep to create a back 3 base, RB/Alves pushing up to occupy position vacated by RW/Messi.

- Half spaces+between lines: RW/Messi & LCM/Iniesta as main progressive options...

...for DM/Busquets and RCM/Xavi while also pinning opp. CMs -> unable to support 1st wave press from opp. AM & CF = AC Milan forced to sit in passive mid block.

- RB/Alves and LW/Pedro (out of frame) keeping width with CF/Villa (out of frame) occupying opp. CBs

Quite a common set up today, although with differing positional dynamics (how players move in order to create the shape) depending on capabilities of the players of each team. It's interesting to see it utilized at a time when it wasn't so common.
