The Story of the Man that was killed by the Quran.

(Qatilul Quran).
This is a story of one of the servant of Allah, who was very sensitive to the word of his Lord.

His understanding of the Quran and his fear for Allah made his heart melt upon hearing the word of Allah.
He was so sensitive that when he hears the recitation of the Quran, and a sensitive issue is discussed, he would cry until he faints.
Over the years since after the Quran was revealed there have been several cases of people with good faith crying and falling sick on hearing a warning or punishment.

But the story of this Man stands out.
He was not a very knowledgeable person, Not from a royal family, He was only a son of a well-known scholar by the name Fudhail ibn Iyadh.

His name was Ali ibn Fudhail ibn Iyadh, after his death he was nicknamed Qatilul Quran (The person that was killed by the Quran).
Muhammad ibn Bisyr Al makki was narrated by Baihaqi to have said

“One day we were walking Ali and I, then we passed the Bani Al-Harith at the time a teacher was teaching his students Quran, he then recited the following verse;
“To Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth: so that He rewards those who do evil, according to their deeds, and He rewards those who do good, with what is best.”

Surah Najm verse 31
Suddenly he screamed and fainted, he was taken home, that day he didn’t pray from Dhuhur to Isha because he woke up at midnight.”
Even when he’s in salaah, if a verse is recited that contains punishment or warning, he cries till he faints.

This is why his father mostly avoid reciting some verses in salaah if he knows Ali is praying behind him.
Ibrahim Bashar said
“The versed that cause Ali Ibn Fudhail to die was a verse in Surah An’am...
where Allah the Exalted said;

“ And could you see when they are made to stand before the fire, then they shall say: Would that we were sent back, and we would not reject the communications of our Lord and we would be of the believers.”

Verse 27.
Ibrahim ibn Bashar said, he cried and cried and he fainted from there he never woke up. He add I was among those that prepared his body.
