I just skimmed the hellscape known as Facebook a little while ago & I...I literally don’t understand my fellow Americans. This whole thing about “We gotta live life! We can’t let this virus stop us from living life! Freedom!”

Y’all know all that shit is highly subjective right?

Why is “living life” defined as unrestrained consumption? Folks ain’t like “I just wanna climb a mountain!” Folks are like “I NEED A HAIRCUT & TO EAT AT RED ROBIN!”

So what this consumption requires others who may not feel the same way to serve you. EFF’em. YOU NEED STARBUCKS.

That’s what angers me. The loudest people about reopening are the folks demanding unfettered consumption. The argument around making a living gets thrown on top. Those who could solve that, our elected leaders, won’t. That’s where anger should be pointed. Where’s a living wage?

They don’t care about actually making sure folks in need have a way to survive unless it caters to their need to consume. Other countries stopped their unemployment crisis. We’re letting ours cooks & making citizens turn on each other. It’s fucking sick.

That’s who America is.

And it’s amazing how cries for reopening aren’t linked w/ cries for a system to allow for a safe reopening. Wheres all that energy about making things as safe as possible? Why are folks freaking out over requests to wear a gatdamb mask but not about having access to tests? Dafuq?

Because this ain’t all about “Being in this together.” If you’re so lonely invite some folks over. But oh, wait. Who will serve you? You can’t just consume. If you don’t think you’ll get sick why not just congregate with other folks who agree? Why force this?

This whole debate is dishonest and fucked up and the rich and powerful argue reopen and have their minions do the dirty work. The rich have tests . The WH tests everybody constantly. But us?
