Pos Malaysia, Q et A with my mom.
So my mother is a senior officer at one of the companies owned by DRB-HICOM (DRB) , which owns Pos Malaysia. She personally attends meetings with other officials in said company and even personally know some of them.
So my mother is a senior officer at one of the companies owned by DRB-HICOM (DRB) , which owns Pos Malaysia. She personally attends meetings with other officials in said company and even personally know some of them.
The question and answers are given by my mom, at the kitchen, so there's no formal/direct answer.
1. Q : What do you think about Pos Malaysia going viral, regarding the bonus cancellation for their staffs?
A : It's all ridiculous, they talk like they knew everything but they dont. Even we all dont expect any bonuses, all companies are handling big losses.

From here I conclude a few things, first is, where did all those money go? Ofc we buy lots of items online, which in turns provide revenue to the company. Still, we need to realise, Pos Malaysia is staffed by over 10k employees. With office closed, productivity and maximum—
Profit isn't possible. Pos revenue doesn't come from their courier services solely, there's a lot of other things going on that feeds Pos the money used to pay their employees. Also they can't simply use their previous year's profit since uncertainties still lingers in the air—
On how long the MCO will continue to be practiced. If they dried up their banks accounts to maintain bonuses, if MCO got extended, then they'll have no emergency funds, and a simple slip can make the entire company appears only in history books and archives. This is a necessary—
Step to ensure survivability of the company itself. Talking back about "other services", those 10k staffs don't devote themselves into courier services solely, instead, customer services, postal services, stamps, etc. are all staffed and needs to keep being paid. This was an—
Asset during normal times, but during this pandemic, where office are closed, they can't work, can't generate income for the company, instead became a liability towards them. So the money from courier had to be deviated to other sectors as well to maintain workforce.
2. Q : How about accidents that happened to those riders?
A : Accidents are EXTREMELY common in Pos Malaysia courier and postal service. I (my mother) once attended a meeting with Pos Malaysia. They did mention about high percentage of "rider" having accidents. Then I asked them—
A : Accidents are EXTREMELY common in Pos Malaysia courier and postal service. I (my mother) once attended a meeting with Pos Malaysia. They did mention about high percentage of "rider" having accidents. Then I asked them—
"When does this accidents usually happen?" They said around 2 pm. "Why?" I asked. The answer was "They're hasting to get to the second trip". Anyway, some are riding their motors recklessly, I had seen it numerous times, even experienced it first hand.
This one shocked me. Not all fingers can be pointed towards the company. This one is on the attitude of Malaysian road users as well, not excluding the Posmen themselves. Road rage? Checked. Signal? Unchecked. Due to rushing to get that extra pennies, which I respect—
Because they got family to feed, still, that can't justify their reckless acts which sometimes endangering not only them, but other road users as well. This leads to another issue, underpayment. We need to realise, these employees receive annual bonuses, so their base salary—
Isn't the only source of income. Also, I've seen the recently viral a posmen being hired since 1997 only receive 2k+ salary. Solely my opinion, a 22 year experience looks good on resume, why not apply for a better courier service instead of the "underpaid" Pos? Are J&T, FedEx,—
Etc. Offers a better salary than Pos Malaysia? Why everyone wants to point fingers at Pos Malaysia but completely ignore other courier services? Of course its our national courier that had been turned into a private company, still, it's like blaming Proton for causing—
Environmental problem because they don't develop electric-vehicles. My analogy sucks but I hope you got the points. Besides, I've seen the benefits of working under DRB. Their insurance benefits are excellent, not to include their CSR programmes. So don't come out saying—
These companies ignore their employees and praise their management instead without solid evidence. Come to me with proofs and I'll delete this immediately. That's another story, still, this is the perfect example of people being complete idiots who hardly know how things work—
And out of the blue complaining. You have rights as consumer, but not as keyboard warrior who are eager to "spill the tea" for some clout. Sad to add, my mom said there's a huge possibility that those Posmen that have their faces posted online, would be terminated simply because—
They had given the company a bad image. Sadly that's how the world works, and there's nothing we can do about it. If you have an issue, do complain at a proper channel, don't abuse the social media viral power. In most cases it mars instead of mends.
Only 30% of Pos Malaysia revenue comes from Courier service, all those money needs to be distributed throughout the whole company, 70% other sources are affected abnormally. Also Pos Malaysia had been experiencing losses all the way back in 2018. https://twitter.com/soulbreaker07/status/1262307762714763265?s=19
To those who read this thread, I'm not saying Posmen doesn't deserve their bonuses, but at this hard times, the bonus cuts was necessary and justified. Some are making this a fuss and taking out of context. Pos Malaysia deserved to be treated better, after all they had done.
