A case study in the contorted, absurd beauty of the old Star Wars canon.
Back when there were only 3 movies, fans wanted to know *everything* about even the most minor characters. That included the most obscure denizens of the Mos Eisley Cantina. Like the Tonnika Sisters.

Now the Tonnika Sisters in the movie are barely there. They don’t even have a name- they were known as the ‘Space Girls’ during filming.
So West End Games basically made up whole bios for them for their popular 80s RPG sourcebooks, like this one, on everyone in A New Hope.

Unfortunately, there was a problem. The WEG sourcebook describes the Tonnika Sisters as identical twins, including being the same height.
Except this conflicted with one of the only very very few things we know about them from the movie! They are definitely not the same height.

Then came the 90s and a whole book about those minor oddballs from Mos Eisley. And here, Timothy Zahn solves the conundrum by revealing that the pair in the film are *not* the Tonnika Sisters at all, but two other people posing as them! That’s why they are different heights.
So there it is. In the EU, these 2 background characters are not the Tonnika Sisters, but 2 other characters disguised as the Tonnika Sisters, a fact of absolutely no relevance to the movie introduced wholly to cover up an RPG sourcebook describing their heights incorrectly.
God I love Star Wars.
