THREAD: Today, the JK Government issued out the “Grant of Domicile (Procedure) Rules.” This order details the process in which Indian settlers can obtain domicile in #Kashmir, changing the demographics of the region. It reaffirms who can apply for a domicile certificate.

It details the “competent authority” that can issue out the certificate and the type of documentation that is needed.

It states that these certificates can be issued out within FIFTEEN days.

That India is moving forward with its settler-colonial project during the pandemic shows its nefarious intent. The international community MUST condemn this relentless assault on the #Kashmiri people, their identity, their land & livelihold , and their lives.

Another point: the order penalizes the “competent authority” 50k ruppees if they not issue out the domicile certificate within 7 days. This provision is included to prevent any resistance from the “competent authority” and to ensure this process occurs quickly.
