since we’ve gotten the most wonderful news that we are FINALLY getting the Percy Jackson adaptation we deserve, I’ve decided to re-read the series. a thread to document my experience that will end up being way too long & something many of you will (and probably should) ignore:
“Look, I didn’t want to be a half-blood....my name is Percy Jackson...Am I a troubled kid? Yeah. You could say that.” ICONIC.
something I feel that is deeply under-appreciated about the Percy Jackson series (okay any series by Rick Riordan) are the chapter titles. “I Accidentally Vaporize My Pre-algebra Teacher.” Genius. Also goals.
“Always sixth grade. They never get past sixth.” The for half-bloods and non half-bloods I think.
Percy’s love for his mom. That’s it. That’s the tweet.
“Names have power.”
“You drool when you sleep.” What a beautiful start to an incredible relationship. Honestly though, Percabeth is my #1 OTP.
“I thought about being a teacher for three thousand years. It wouldn’t have made my Top Ten Things to Wish For list.” Welp...
“The gods are busy. They have a lot of kids and they don’t always... well sometimes they don’t care about us Percy. They ignore us.” One of the most heartbreaking lines that is a catalyst for everything that follows.
“You shall go west, and face the god who has turned. You shall find what was stolen, and see it safely returned. You shall be betrayed by one who calls you a friend. And you shall fail to save what matters most, in the end.” RICK RIORDAN CAN WRITE THE HELL OUT OF A PROPHECY!!!
She was a wise girl. He was a seaweed brain. Can I make it anymore obvious? 🎶 (yes I clearly should’ve gone to bed instead of staying up all night)
“It’s the only thing that keeps us from despair when we look at what humans have done to the world. I have to believe Pan can still be awakened.” one of the reasons I love the PJO series. the layering and complexity is unmatched.
The Lotus Hotel. The meeting with Hades in the Underworld. The epic battle with Ares. Percy meeting Lord Zeus and his father. I literally can’t wait for this to be adapted properly.
“I am sorry you were born, child. I have brought you a hero’s fate, and a hero’s fate is never happy. It is never anything but tragic.”
