white privilege does not mean you don’t suffer. it means you don’t suffer BECAUSE of your race. it means you can run in the street freely without being afraid of being shot, you can wear your natural hair without fear of being fired or called unprofessional or smelly etc

it means that you will never have to turn on the tv and be afraid that someone new who looks like you has been shot in cold blood for minding their business or someone who looks like u had been racially profiled or framed or arrested for something they did not do bc of their race

it means that you will likely NEVER have to teach your sons to “not wear hoodies that are dark at night” or to “just give the cop what he’s asking for and don’t talk back” it means you can freely carry guns in open carry states and nobody will ever look twice at u

it means you will not experience texting your father or brother making sure they are okay because they have left the house and have not responded to you. it means you will never have a gut renching fear when a cop stops somewhere

being white means you can close your eyes at night knowing that you can CHOOSE to ignore racial violence and racism. some of us do not have the privilege, but when you are white, you do. so please recognizing that you have it. it’s truly that simple.
