It’s not like this is a new position to take. @cmdgrosso raised concerns about police militarization in 2017. That was almost three years ago! Let’s follow the money (and lobbyists). These attacks are paid for by @DFER_DC, a charter school lobbyist group backed by donations from outside billionaires. You can see @DFER_DC displayed on the attack mailers.

Last year, charter schools in DC were facing calls for more transparency, most notably via a DC Council bill from @charlesallen. DC charters (and their lobbyists) opposed the transparency bill and “mobilized quickly” to defeat it. Perhaps DC charters opposed the bill because DC charter school administrators are some of the highest paid in the country, with DC charter teachers paid much less. Now to bring this back to @DFER_DC’s attacks on @Janeese4DC. Guess who wasn’t a sponsor of the charter school transparency bill that lobbyists mobilized against? That’s right, none other than @Janeese4DC opponent @BrandonTTodd.

All this is to say that we urge Ward 4 residents to reject the heinous, lobbyist-backed attacks on @Janeese4DC. Vote for Janeese on June 2, so that we can fight for a DC that is for us -- the people -- and not outside billionaires.
