I'm feeling a little nostalgic about Europe, and I hope I can return there soon. But for now, I am going to share a few pictures from my trip in 2018 for all of my mutuals who weren't following me back then.
These are a few pictures from London, which must have been the second week of March 2018. London, by the way, is a city I absolutely love, and I could never get enough of it. I'm hoping to be back there soon.
This guy ended up practically placing this right on my face. I have strongly negative feelings about Erdoğan and the current Turkish government, but this generalization was too much. Of course, I didn't get into it. Just shook my head and walked away. Still, wanker.
And yet more of London!
We also went to Hampton Court Palace, in Greater London, built in the early 1500s, and one of King Henry VIII's favorite residences.
On the third week of March, we went to Paris. And it was freezing!
Notre-Dame, which is gorgeous but it was so crowded. Not my ideal way to visit a place, but I understand it's a major touristic spot, so I understand.
Paris is breathtaking, the architecture just blows my mind every time I visit, but I don't think I ever experienced such cold weather over there. But it was a great excuse to drink lots of wine and eat unhealthy amounts of chocolate.
We went to the opera while we were in Paris. There are no pictures of that, obviously, but there is this picture of me on our way there, heh. The opera was absolument fantastique!
Bruges was the next stop, in Belgium. Bruges became a city in the year 1128, and the entire city shows its age. It's gorgeous!
We went up the Belfry of Bruges, of course, which was built in the mid 1200s, if I'm not mistaken. The climb up is a bit of an effort, and they ask people with a heart condition, or people who smoke, not to go up.
You'll have to excuse the lack of visibility. It was so very cold that day. But it was glorious to be up there.
El Churrasco Argentino, as you can see, is an Argentinian steakhouse in Bruges. My favorite kind of steakhouse! And the food was amazing. Plus, I always love to hear an Argentinian accent. "Che, boludo!"
Amsterdam was lovely, but we were only there for a day. I had been there a few times before, and I have been there a few more times since, so it wasn't really a problem. But I always have a great time there.
Then we flew to Oslo, which is the quietest big city I've ever been to. This is also when cold weather began to fade and we started noticing spring was coming. We went shopping, we ate a lot, and we slept a lot. We needed to recharge batteries.
We did go to the Viking Ship Museum, which displays the Oseberg Ship and some of its contents. The ship dates back to 800 AD, maybe even earlier.
I realize I didn't continue this thread, so I'll pick this up because I'm bored, haha. Plus, it's fun to share pictures of this trip with the people who weren't following me back then, because much to my surprise, I've gained a lot of followers since then.
Anyway, after Oslo, we flew to Iceland. This must have been March 26, 2018.
The winds in Iceland are so strong, we had to wait for an hour inside the plan, after landing, before we could go out. We had to wait until the winds were under 50 knots for over ten minutes.
This is Tjörnin, a gorgeous little lake in Reykjavik. Pretty cold that day!
More of Reykjavík!
And this is off the coast of Reykjavík. Words cannot describe how cold it was that day, haha!
Hallgrímskirkja! A tall and gorgeous Lutheran church built.
Laugavegur, a long street full of shops and restaurants.
Now that I'm missing Europe, it's a good time to continue this thread from my trip.
Oh, and by the way, if you haven't been following me for long, but you've seen me talking about my Spanish boyfriends, this little thread is the origin story, if you're curious. I met them in Iceland. https://twitter.com/turksespinnekop/status/979498503973015552?s=20
I forgot about this thread from my five-week trip to Europe in 2018, but I think it's a good idea to go back to it, since I'm once again feeling nostalgic about traveling.
