hate when people are like "haha fiction doesnt impact reality bc GTA didn't make me steal cars and cod didn't make me shoot people" and it's like okay no they didnt but GTA did impact how ppl view the humanity of sex workers and cod does encourage islamophobia/military worship
Violent video games do often impact society, just not in the overly simplistic way that people often use as a strawman
If sexist media women contributes to misogyny and if racist media contributes to white supremacy and if homophobic media that dehumanizes LGBT people contributes to homophobia then it stands to reason that media that dehumanizes children contributes to rl dehumanization of kids
I think a lot of people who don't consider this either don't see kids as marginalized or they don't see kids as human beings or both
I don't mean this in a hysterical "ohhhh nooo think of the children!!! What if they see something naughty!!!" sense, I'm concerned about how dehumanizing content contributes to wider societal attitudes towards children, their autonomy, and their bodies
