Back on my bullshit with Omegaverse TodoDeku, except with a fun little surprise. ;) May or may not be inspired by earlier tweets. Definitely NSFW

CW// Non-con and betrayal
Todoroki is an alpha, and he lives in fear of losing control of himself. He basically refuses to interact with omegas, for fear of The Worst happening. He's a Grade A Omegaphobe, and he's not changing anytime soon.
However, since relationships with other alphas can also lead to... some unfortunate aggression, he tends to avoid those, too. It's never been a huge problem. He doesn't have many friends. It's not the end of the world.
But then he meets Midoriya, and it's PERFECT because here's this beta he can interact with and let his guard down around and for once he doesn't feel like he has to walk on pins and needles. He loves his friend. He trusts him.
And Midoriya is absolutely enamoured with Todoroki. Not in a "no homo" sort of way. Full homo. He can't believe that this attractive, powerful, considerate man has taken an interest in him. Like sure, it isn't romantic on Todoroki's part, but Midoriya can dream. And plot.
One day, Midoriya asks his friend to go camping with him. It will be a fun training exercise. A nice break. Todoroki has never been camping, and he's excited to spend time with his friend. They take off for the weekend, hiking to a remote spot in middle of the forest.
Everything goes perfectly. They roast some marshmallows, do some fishing. Normal camping stuff that both boys are very enthusiastic about.

They crawl into their sleeping bags at the end of the day in their little shared tent, and Todoroki doesn't think the day could get better.
It can't get better. But it can certainly get worse.

He wakes up in the middle of the night and he smells something that hits him right in the gut. Even without ever having encountered that scent before, his body tells him what it is: an omega in heat.
Even though he's awake, it feels like his mind is full of cotton. The only reason he woke up is because he's rock hard and his body is screaming at him to take some of the pressure off.

"M-Midoriya?" he asks, pulling his shirt up to cover his nose and mouth.
Midoriya is already awake and out of his sleeping bag. Todoroki isn't sure the beta can smell what he's smelling, but maybe he heard something outside the tent? Maybe there's an omega out there, prowling around like a cat in heat.
"Midoriya, you have to help me," Todoroki begs. "I can't- I can't lose control-"

"Shhh," Midoriya replies, hands coming up to gently tug down the cloth covering Todoroki's nose. "It's okay. Just relax."

And then Midoriya is straddling him, pressing Todoroki's nose to his neck.
That's when Todoroki realizes: the scent is coming from his friend. He tries to scramble away, to push Midoriya off, but he's forgotten how his limbs work. Besides, his body is telling him that the most pressing thing right now is to lean in and sniff that wonderful scent.
Normally Todoroki takes all kinds of hormone suppressants and scent blockers, but he skipped today's dose because they were camping and he didn't think it would matter. Is just one missed dose enough to ruin his life?
"I've been on heat suppressants for so long," Midoriya whispers into his ear. "My mom kept begging me to take a hormone break, but I couldn't stand the thought of anyone else in the hero course knowing I was an omega. I don't mind if it's you, though, Todoroki-kun."
Todoroki opens his mouth to say something, to say that HE minds, and Midoriya needs to stop, needs to get away, but all that comes out is a growl. He's not thinking clearly anymore.

The silver lining is that Todoroki doesn't remember much of his worst nightmare coming true.
When he finally comes to and can think again, his body feels wrecked and exhausted and there's the taste of blood in his mouth. Curled up next to his side is Izuku, his head pillowed on Todoroki's chest, bite mark clearly visible on his neck.

They're mated now.
Midoriya blinks awake and looks at him with the softest expression. He nuzzles into Todoroki. The alpha is too petrified to move.

"Good morning," Izuku says. "Well, it's actually afternoon. Guess we're both pretty worn out after last night."

Then he has the audacity to chuckle.
Todoroki finally regains control of himself, and he shoves Midoriya off and scrambles back.

"W-what did you do to me?" he asks.

"Nothing," Midoriya replies, face falling. "I just let our instincts do the work."

"You lied to me."
Midoriya looks hurt.

"Todoroki-kun, now we can be together, and you don't have to worry about your instincts and I don't have to worry about heats and everything will be better."

"You raped me."

Even voicing the accusation makes Shouto want to vomit. He feels faint.
"I didn't," Midoriya responds, his voice going cold. "I didn't force you to do anything."

"You knew if you got me alone during your heat I'd lose control. You never asked if I was okay with it and-"

And it was too late now. The mark on Midoriya's neck is permanent.
Todoroki can still taste blood. He feels sick.

Midoriya opens his mouth to say something else, but Todoroki can't bear to hear it. He turns around and flees.

It's a long trek back to UA. He does it without stopping and without looking back.
He's shaking like a palm tree in hurricane winds, his mind whirling even more violently still, but he knows something needs to be done. For the first time since he was a small child, Todoroki dares to go to an adult for help.

Aizawa is in his office.
The tired man looks up as Todoroki hovers in his doorway.

"You're back early," he says. "Did the camping trip not go well?"

Todoroki enters his office and shuts the door behind him. Aizawa intuits from his pale face and disheveled clothing that something is very wrong.
"Where's the problem child?" he asks, quirking an eyebrow.

"U-um, that's what I came to talk to you about. I... did you know Midoriya was an omega?"

Aizawa scowls. Of course.

"Yes. It's on his medical record. Please don't tell me this is about what I think it is."
Aizawa knew it was a bad idea to let an alpha and an omega fraternize. However, everyone else in the faculty thought he was cruel for wanting to stop the boys from spending time together. All Might thought they were good for each other. He had signed off on that camping trip.
And now that alpha is standing in front of him doing his best to look penitent.

"Midoriya... he went into heat..."

Aizawa closes his eyes and sighs. Of course. Of fucking course. Damn teenagers can't keep it in their pants and now he has a mess to clean up.
"How bad is it?" Aizawa asks. "Did you finish inside him? Did you bite him?"

Todoroki nods. He's having trouble getting words out, explaining that... that he didn't want those things to happen, and now Aizawa is looking at him like it's HIS fault and-
Grumbling, Aizawa turns back to his desk and picks up his phone. He has some calls to make.

"Sir," Todoroki says, the word feeling unfamiliar in his mouth. Well. It tastes better than Midoriya's blood had. "Sir, I... Midoriya tricked me. I didn't want to, and..."
"And now I have a mess to clean up," Aizawa snaps. Then he turns around and makes the call. Todoroki is left standing in his office trying not to shake himself apart.

That's what this is going to look like to everyone. No one will believe that he's the victim.
Something shuts down in Todoroki. The rest of the day is a blur. Parents are called, Midoriya is located, both boys are given a medical examination. The entire time the half-and-half boy is silent and withdraw, speaking only to answer questions.
Midoriya on the other hand is exuberant. He wears his new bitemark like fancy jewelry he wants to show off. He keeps tossing hopeful looks at Todoroki, who does everything to avoid his gaze. The adults all act like the outcome is dissapointing, but not too unexpected.
His father pulls him aside to berate him.

"You really had to go and sow your wild oats," he grumbles.

"Dad, I didn't want to mate-"

"Well you damn well did," Endeavor snarls. "Whatever. I suppose knocking up All Might's heir isn't the worst possible outcome."
"Isn't there a way to undo it?" Todoroki begs. If anyone could find a way around the normal rules, it would be his father. "Please, you could set me up with someone else instead. I'll- I'll mate with whoever you want if you can break this off."

"There IS no breaking off a bond."
Todoroki had heard that. Once a mating bond is in place, it's there for life. Still, he had foolishly hoped... maybe that was just an old wive's tale or something. But no, he is stuck.

Midoriya comes to see him that night.
Todoroki refuses to let him in. He locks the door and keeps it locked, but Midoriya calls to him from the other side.

"Shouto!" he whines, and apparently they are on a first-name basis now. "You can't reject me forever. I'm your mate."
"You're a monster," Todoroki hisses through the closed door. "I will never forgive you for what you did."

There's a long stretch of silence, but Todoroki knows Midoriya hasn't left. He didn't hear footsteps leading away, and he can FEEL his presence. It's the bond they share.
"What do you plan to do?" Midoriya finally asks. "Never speak to me again and just... die alone?"

"I'll find someone else," Shouto says.

Midoriya laughs, but he doesn't sound amused.

"No one will touch a mated alpha," he explains. "It's me or it's no one. Forever."
That is the final straw in the hellish blur of his day that breaks him. Shouto sinks to his knees and begins to cry. He's young. He had his whole life ahead of him. He wanted to fall in love and grow into himself and take his time before settling down, and now all that is gone.
"Shouto," Midoriya sighs, and there is pain in his voice. "Come on, it doesn't have to be like this. Open the door."

Todoroki never wants to see him again. But he can't be alone right now, and everyone else thinks he's some sort of irresponsible monster. He opens the door.
Midoriya is standing there, looking like he's in pain on Todoroki's behalf. He reaches out to touch Todoroki, and the boy steps back. He doesn't want to be near Midoriya. He doesn't want to be alone. He doesn't want this to be his reality, but it is.
Midoriya bites his lip at the rejection, but he lowers his hand. Instead he steps inside and closes the door.

"You know I did this because I love you," Midoriya says, "and I knew you'd never reciprocate unless I took matters into my own hands."
"And I never will," Shouto spits.

Midoriya sighs and forces a smile onto his face. It's tired, but it's there.

"Never is a long time," he replies.

Then he reaches out and grabs Shouto's hand.

"Come on. Let's go to bed."

//END (idk, maybe I'll continue this🤷)
Like a dog to its vomit, I can't leave this alone. So here we go, Part 2.

Mated life does not agree with Todoroki. Mostly its because he now can't escape Midoriya. Having to interact with his rapist on a regular basis is not great for Todoroki's mental health.
Although... was it rape? The more time passes, the more Shouto begins to doubt himself. Everyone seems to think it is a given that alphas can't be raped. In fact, Todoroki had never even considered the possibility. He'd spent most of his life petrified of the inverse happening.
He'd grown up terrified for the day he would lose control of himself and ruin someone else's life. But now... well, it turns out the person who's life he ruined is his own. He bit Midoriya, and even though Midoriya had orchestrated the situation, Todoroki is the one who did it.
In the end, Todoroki falls back onto blaming himself. He should have known better. He should have been more careful. He should have stopped it.

However, self-hatred doesn't make Midoriya any easier to stomach. Being around him still makes Shouto jumpy and nervous.
Midoriya on the other hand is absolutely flourishing. He won't leave Todoroki's side no matter how difficult Shouto makes it.

Todoroki becomes very good at excuses very quickly. His head hurts. He didn't sleep well last night. He has to study. Anything to try and wriggle away.
It doesn't ever work, but that doesn't stop Shouto from trying.

"The sooner you get used to this, the sooner we can both be happy," Midoriya tells him when Todoroki refuses to grant him entrance to his room for the thousandth time, this time under the pretense of writing his mom
"I've kinda given up on happy," Shouto says. "Mostly I'm focusing on staying sane."

Midoriya frowns, again trying to use his hurt like a weapon to break through Shouto's defenses.

"If sane is what you're worried about, even more reason to let me in. Don't want to go feral."
Todoroki isn't sure he believes that myth about alphas that don't spend enough time around their mates going feral. However, if there's one thing he's learning it's how to doubt himself.

"Maybe tomorrow," he replies, trying to close the door.
Midoriya shoots out his hand and stops the door. That quirk of his gives him unheard of strength for an omega.

"Promise?" Midoriya asks. His eyes are big and wet, as if he isn't preventing Shouto from escaping through brute force alone.

"...fine. Promise."
Midoriya smiles and skips away, absolutely satiated. Todoroki is exhausted. He doesn't want to think about having to follow through on his promise. He doesn't remember how long its been since this nightare began, forgets what tomorrow is.

It's Midoriya's heat.
The next day when the omega harasses him again after class, Todoroki has no valid reason to refuse. His skin is crawling like there are ants nesting inside it, but a promise is a promise. He agrees to a short visit.

Midoriya wastes no time invading his room and crawling into bed
"We should trade blankets," he murmurs, wrapping himself up in Todoroki's quilt and burying his face in it. "I'd love to fall asleep with your scent in my nose. I'm sure you feel the same way, don't you Shouto-kun?"

Shouto doesn't respond. He glowers at the smaller boy silently.
In truth, he HAS noticed that Midoriya smells good. Really good. Like "what are they cooking next door because I suddenly have a craving for exactly that and I will not be satisfied with anything else" good.

"Come here," Midoriya beckons, patting the space next to him.
Todoroki obeys, if only because he is too exhausted to argue. All of his energy lately has been sapped by the constant war of keeping Midoriya at bay. Maybe it would be all right to let his guard down for a few moments.

With a sigh, he sinks onto the bed.
Midoriya reaches out and pulls him into a side-hug. Ugh. Todoroki resists the urge to push him away. He can get through this. He closes his eyes and tries to pretend it's someone else, some other body without all the painful memories attached.

It smells good.
He leans in and inhales the scent coming from the other person. That's a nice feeling, sort of warm and tingly like getting too close to a diffuser. It's a lot, and he should probably pull away, but...

Giggling, Midoriya squirms against him and says, "That tickles, Sho."
Todoroki opens his eyes and realizes he's been nuzzling against Midoriya's neck. For his part, Midoriya is preening under the attention, convinved he's finally getting the affection he deserves. He tugs on Todoroki's hair and pulls him down, and Todoroki can't resist.
Can't. It's a compulsion. His stomach is starting to roil in that familiar way, and a jolt of memory courses through him. It isn't as strong as what he woke up to that night camping, probably because it hasn't peaked yet, but this is- This is definitely heat.
Todoroki growls and tries to push Midoriya away. However, the hand in his hair just tightens. Damn, he forgets how strong Midoriya is.

"Let go," he snarls, raising his body temperature so he's hotter than a metal slide in the sun. With a yelp, Midoriya does as he asks.
Before the other boy can pout and throw a fit about how 'cruel and neglectful' his mate is, Todoroki turns to flee. He's not proud. He just wants out.

Something black and crackling snaps around his wrist to stop him. Blackwhip. He forgets Midoriya can do that, too.
"I'll burn this place to the ground," Shouto threatens.

"It's YOUR room," Midoriya counters. "Besides, you're being hysterical. Don't you know how painful heats are for omegas if they don't get laid?"

Todoroki has heard that. He has no way of knowing it's just an urban legend.
Like reeling in a giant, seething fish, Midoriya hauls Todoroki back using Blackwhip, forces him down onto the bed.

The room feels very, very hot, and also smaller than it was a minute ago. Todoroki thinks that might be him forgetting how to breath.
"Hey, calm down," Midoriya says, stroking his face. Todoroki snaps at his fingers, forcing him to withdraw. That scent is getting stronger, and he can feel his mind beginning to cloud. He has to get out. He has to. He can't go through this again.
"What kind of ALPHA," Midoriya asks, pausing to pull his shirt over his head, "won't even help his mate through a heat? How heartless are you?"

"Let me go," Shouto pleads, and he's disgusted by how quickly he's fallen to begging. Even more disgusting is he knows its futile.
"Shouto," Midoriya chides, and Todoroki hates that sound in his voice. It's the tone he uses when he's pretending to be symapthetic and reasonable. "Look, this won't be bad. You just need to relax."

Shouto can't relax. Every nerve in his body is cranked to ten thousand.
He feels fuzzy. He feels on fire. He feels his dick stirring, reacting to the pheromones oozing from Midoriya's body. The omega grinds against him, and something pools in Todoroki's stomach. It's either lust or vomit.

He wishes it was vomit.
With judicious use of Blackwhip, Midoriya undresses him, holding him down when Todoroki fights too hard. All the while, he reassures Shouto, tells him things will be okay, this is fine, he just needs to stop overreacting.
When they are both finally nude, Midoriya straddles him. Both are panting, partly from their wrestling match, partly from the animal need burning the two from the inside out. A little bit of slick drips out of Midoriya onto Todoroki's thighs.
"I can do all this myself, you know," Midoriya points out. "So throw your tantrum all you want."

Then he lowers himself onto Todoroki's dick. The boy lets out a sound between a sob and a moan.

Unlike last time, he doesn't lose himself completely.
Maybe it's because this isn't his first time, or maybe it's because he had more time to prepare himself, to get enough fear to counteract the instincual haze in his mind. Whatever the case, even if his limbs feel leaden, his brain is awake enough to take in the details.
Midoriya rises and falls, pumping himself up and down and grunting deep in his throat every time the soft slope of his ass connects with Todoroki's balls.

It feels good. Todoroki wants to vacate his body, wants to escape just how good this feels.
Midoriya has stopped restraining him, probably because he knows Todoroki is too far gone to actively try to stop him. All he can do is paw weakly at Midoriya's chest, trying to find something to hold onto. Midoriya misinterprets the gesture.
He takes Shouto's hand and presses it to his face, leans into Todoroki's palm and smiles.

"I love you," Midoriya says. "We're going to be together forever."

His hole clenches around Todoroki's cock, squeezes so hard it's almost painful.
An orgasm is milked out of Todoroki's body, and at least after that Midoriya doesn't keep working him into overstimulation. Instead, he pulls off Todoroki's cock and collapses onto his chest.

"Geeze," he hisses. "You really have an amazing dick, Shouto-kun."
He snuggles up to his mate, wrapping arms around Todoroki and pulling him close. Even with his mind clearing, Shouto feels deep exhaustion sneaking up on him, telling him to just roll over and go to sleep. Instead, he forces himself up.
Midoriya puffs out his cheeks, but at least he doesn't physically restrain Todoroki as the boy stumbles out of the room.

"Don't stay out too late," he calls.

Right. Todoroki will have to return eventually. He has nowhere else to go.
Out in the hall, he has the misfortune to encounter Sero, who laughs and winks at him.

"Sounds like you two are having fun," he comments. "Try not to stay up too late. Some of us need to sleep."

The roiling feeling is back in Todoroki's stomach.
Except this time it's not lust. It's definitely vomit.

Todoroki collapses to the floor and makes sick all over the carpet.

This is his life now. No one is going to stop this.

//END. For now. Maybe forever. Idk.
Okay last time I promise, BUT part 3:

TW// Domestic violence

Shouto never gets used to Izuku. He never gets used to this person that has claim to his life, his body. People like to joke that they bicker like an old married couple. In reality it's a constant power struggle.
Izuku puts up a sweet facade in front of others, but behind closed doors he is a terror. He's smart, though. Cunning. He never leaves marks or hurts Shouto bad enough to need medical aid (a far sight from Shouto's life under Endeavor).
But it's blackwhip this, OFA that. He'll grab Shouto and use him like a puppet if Shouto isn't cooperating, pull all his strings.

So yeah, they bicker in public. It's the only place Shouto can show his anger and not be reprimanded, because Deku won't break his sweet omega act.
Worst of all are Deku's heats. Shouto always tries to come up with an excuse to be absent, but of course it never works. He is expected to be present and to... perform.

Shouto has stopped thinking of it as rape. Rape is something traumatic that happens once and is over with.
This is a chore. It's like his training as a child. It hurts him, and he hates it, but someone in his life decided that it needed to be done, so here he is heat after heat.

"Who's a good boy?" Izuku croons, running a hand through his hair.
Izuku is on top of him, holding Shouto's face in his hands, making it so he can't look anywhere else. Shouto hates that. Over time, as his body has gotten used to this, it's harder and harder to just blank out when he goes into a rut. Even harder when he has to make eye contact.
Izuku knows this, and for some reason (sadism? that sickly thing he calls affection?) makes it his personal goal to force Shouto to be present.

"Just come already," Shouto growls. He uses his quirk to make himself unpleasant to hold, but that's a trick that has long stopped.
Izuku just grabs him by the hair instead.

"Shouto," he sighs, "you know this would be better for both of us if you just cooperated. Why do you insist on making things harder for yourself?"

"Because it makes them harder for you," he spits.
Izuku scowls, and that's how Shouto knows he's in for it. Once again he's struck a nerve, and he has to take temporary satisfaction in that fact, because what follows after is much less fun. Izuku blackwhips his hands, and the quirk stings like electricity where it rubs skin.
Izuku rides him hard enough that Shouto sees stars, and that's fine, at least he's a little more distant like this. As always, Izuku hates when he starts to dissasociate, demands his attention. He grabs for Shouto's chin, but Shouto retaliates with teeth.
"Ah!"

Izuku hisses and withdraws his hand, looking at the crescent of red. With blood on his teeth, Shouto smirks.

"How could you?" Izuku asks, putting on his best 'hurt, helpless omega' act. Shouto doesn't know why he bothers. It isn't going to work on him.
Izuku understands this, because he follows up the pout with a slap. There must have been some OFA behind it, because that makes Shouto see stars, too.

"I am your MATE," Izuku growls. "You will TREAT me with RESPECT."

Three more slaps, and Shouto is dizzy enough to stop fighting
When he comes to, he's been left in a puddle of fluids-his own and Izuku's slick. Disgusting. But there's a silver lining to everything.

Izuku left a bruise. That's the first time he's ever slipped up like that, and Shouto intends to make use of it.
They're working at a hero agency now, together, because no agency would take them separately. The publicity from a mated hero team is too good to pass up. However, Shouto takes his purple chin into the office and demands reassignment.

"Izuku and I need a break," he says.
He knows the truth isn't sympathetic, so he spins a tale about how working together and then living together is too stressful for their relationship. All he wants is space, this little slice of freedom. He's grasping at straws and relishing the feel of them in his hands.
His boss furrows his brow and is concerned. If nothing else, visible marks of domestic dispute are bad for their image and thus their marketability.

"We can look into alternating your patrols," he conceeds.

Victory. That's like ten hours a day he gets to be away from Izuku.
His mate does not take the news well.

"You're ruining things for us!" he wails. "Why won't you just let us be a happy mated couple like everyone else? That's all I want!"

Izuku cries, and Shouto knows his distress is geniune. Even so, Shouto can't bring himself to care.
Because what Izuku wants doesn't stop at appearances. He wants Shouto to behave and act exactly like his perfect little puppet, to be something he's not. Their happiness is not compatible.

Shouto has no remorse.
It turns out the feeling is mutual, because the next day Izuku turns the tables. Shouto is called into HR, and he knows from the crocodile tears lining Izuku's face that he's in for a nightmare.

"Why don't you take a seat?" the HR officer says. She's wearing a fake smile.
Shouto sits, and his hackles are already raised.

"Izuku is very concerned about you," the officer says. "Apparently you two had an altercation?"

Shouto's jaw is chartreuse at this point, bruise just healing, so he feels like that speaks for itself.
He's not sure what angle Izuku is playing though, so he keeps his mouth shut.

"The agency feels like it would be in our best interest for you to receive a psych evaluation," she continues to explain.

"What? ME? Why?"

Izuku raises his hand to show off the bloody finger.
"I'm concerned about your behavior," Izuku says, wobbly lip and all. "I just want to make sure you aren't going Feral."

Shouto's blood runs cold. Feral. The specter that haunts all alphas, the fear of their instincts taking over and losing themselves.
Of course he's NOT Feral (is he? He would know if he was. Probably) but when a cute little omega like Izuku comes whining that their mate is scaring them, certain precautions must be taken.

So he goes in for a psych eval. The therapist is a portly beta, a "neutral" party.
"Do you ever fantasize about hurting your partner?" he starts off with.

"I- I mean yes, but..."

There is scribbling on the clipboard.

"Do you enjoy having sex with him?"

"No," Shouto snarls, and even he is surprised by the venom in his voice.
Stumbling over his words, Shouto tries to explain himself. He's never been believed before, told that alphas can't really be raped, that there's something wrong with him for not wanting his mate. Usually all the truth does is make people feel sorry for poor, neglected Izuku.
The therapist listens, scribbles notes down, asks questions. Shouto dares to hope.

At the end of it, the man sighs and says, "If nothing else, you two are obviously a bad match. That's such a shame."

"But it means we can get a- a divorce or something, right?"
"Divorce? You two aren't married. You're mated."

Shouto's heart sinks. He knows there's no undoing a claim, but he thought maybe he could... move away, start a new life. The dissapoinment burns like alcohol on a papercut. That's not the worst of it, though.
When he receives the offical report, he is blindsided by the verdict: potential for Feral. He'd thought things had gone well! The doctor had listened to him!

But apparently, he and Izuku being a "bad match" just meant he was a liability, a time bomb.
Without an omega to keep their more base instincts in check, alphas go bad in the head. And since Shouto rejected Izuku in every way possible, didn't let him do his job as a mate, sooner or later it would happen to him. That was the official diagnosis.
Izuku has the leverage he needs.

"You NEED me," he says, waving the paper in Shouto's face. "If you leave, no one will dare hire you. You could go Feral at any minute."

"So that's it, then? You're blackmailing me into staying?"
"I'm offering you a CHOICE," Izuku snaps. "You can be with me and we can have a good life together, or you can be alone and miserable and unwanted."

There are tears in the omega's eyes, and Shouto can't tell anymore if they are geniune or staged.
"Maybe I'd rather be alone," Shouto says.

"No you wouldn't," Izuku responds. "Trust me. Feeling like... like you have no one and no one wants you... that's the worst feeling in the world. I wouldn't wish it on anyone."

Shouto is inclined to believe those tears are real.
"Izuku, I... maybe we could have worked, in some other timeline. But you USED me, and you betrayed my trust. You ruined any chance we had of ever making this work."

Shouto is dangerously close to admitting his darkest secret: he HAD cared for Izuku, back in those innocent days.
He had even harbored foolish fantasies about him and his beta friend being more than friends. But then Izuku had gone and destroyed it all.

"Don't lie," Izuku mumbles, looking down. "I never had a fighting chance. Sometimes if you want something, you have to TAKE it."
Whatever could have gone differently with the past, there's no way they'll ever find out now. There's just the present.

Shouto can live this lie with Izuku and hope one day it gives him a shred of happiness, or he can strike out on his own with no one at his back.
Either way, he loses. But at least right now, in this, he has a choice.

This time, however he fucks up his life, it will be his decision to make.
