HOW TO LAUNCH YOUR STARTUP WITH A TON OF TRAFFIC WITHOUT GOING BROKE.

In this here thread, I'll share the not-so-secret secret that has worked for us.

Warning: It takes effort. Which means, most people won't do it. ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯

/A thread anyways.👇🏽
So far my posts have been on business ideas, how to set up your website, and how to get people to convert.

If you’re new here, don't skip them, I beg thee!

Here’s the last one: https://twitter.com/rohangilkes/status/1260282470601158656
Ok cool Ro, say we have all that in place, how do we get visitors to the site to buy what we’re selling?

How do we get traffic?

Traffic!! Tons of Traffic!!!!!

Well, you’re in the right place, that’s what we’re going to talk about today.
Warning:

This is going to take some effort.

So we know that most people we’re competing with are going to do a half-assed job of it, or not do it at all!

And that’s where we win!
So, here's the short on time version. The rest of this post is just details and my real world examples.

How to get a ton of traffic?

1) Write The Most Epic Piece of Content Imaginable
2) Post it on Platforms That ALREADY Have a Ton of Traffic
So the most important thing in the whole equation is: EPIC!

Say we're selling a hair product, we're not talking:
-Top 10 Ways to braid your hair or
-5 Step Guide to a perfect haircut

We're talking,
A Guide to Every Single Haircut By Decade Since The 1920's.
Now for some real world examples from companies I've started, how long it took to create the content and what the results were.
Example 1: Consumer product I launched

I could have written:

"10 Steps to the Perfect Shave"
EXAMPLE 2: SAAS PRODUCT

When I was launching a software company, I could have written:

10 Steps to a more optimized business blah blah blah

I see this posts all the time. But why?
Instead I wrote: https://www.reddit.com/r/Entrepreneur/comments/5lfy6n/4_years_ago_i_wrote_a_case_study_on_reddit_on_my/

A massive case study, w/ a 30 day guide, videos, testimonials, and resources.
Effort: Took almost a month to put together
Results: Top 3 Post all time on reddit r/entrepreneur
Engagement: 800 comments -
Also million dollar biz.
Example 3: Home services business I launched
SoI needed local traffic since this is a local business.
So I wrote a post and invited local bloggers on doing a big blog survey. Here's all the blogs that participated:
They all then linked back to my site and because of the relationships I built, many of them acted as affiliates for the local service and put banners up etc.

Best Christmas I ever had and now also a multi-million dollar business.
So in all three of these cases I already had a product and created content for that product.

And that’s a great use of this, but that’s not where the real power lies, if you ask me.

The real power is what happens when you create content for the sake of creating content.
Most people see content marketing as:

Build a product → Create content to drive visitors ---> Make sales
How I see it:

Create content to drive visitors -> Build a product they want→ Make sales
So if you’re alway creating content, you’ll always be talking to people about products they need, and sometimes even helping shape and drive that need even if you have no idea what you want to build.
So how did I come to build the software in the first place?

By creating yet another big case study on how to build service businesses.

At the time I had no idea for a product.

But that content led to a product, which led to a multi million dollar sale of that product.
So that's it in a nutshell.

If you take a month or so and construct the most epic detailed post on your subject that you can imagine you'll give yourself a shot at a big launch or even on a product idea that you can’t imagine right now!
The secret is to post that content, NOT on your blog, but on huge platforms like reddit, hackernews, facebook, medium, etc..

Nobody will be reading your blog at this point, so posting on your company blog would be a gigantic waste of time. :-)
And if you've launched already (and haven't gotten the traction you would like), launch again.

And again. There are no rules.

Launch as many times as you need.
Oh, and how do you know your content is epic enough? This should be the face people make as they're reading it!
And that's it, I'll catch you peeps on another one. Stay safe out there. Off to find something fun to do! :-)
Oh, one more thing: How to ensure you're working on epic content, make the title epic:
"The last post you'll ever need to read on____"
"THE Definitive Guide on ___"
"Everything you need to know about ____"

This forces your hand before you even start.
