I believe that monochrome can, in some cases, disconnect us from the past when we should be closer aligned to it: some of the colourisation I did for this pdf worked out ok...
Some more examples of what was once black & white (background details on page 4 of my 36.5mb pdf). I don't claim the colours are truly representative, just that the overall effect can bring us closer to Joan's history...
Whether it is Jhonn Balance or Joan Vollmer, it never fails to affect me deeply when spending creative time with fragments of deceased people's tragic lives...
There's also a few pics at the end of the book that I didn't edit: I've just put them in there as a visual taste of Joan Vollmer's creative legacy...
I sourced some rare photos from many places for this book, but I originally did the colourisation of this famous Tangiers shot for the Billy Burroughs piece in the book: it didn't really ultimately fit in, so it's not included in the pdf...
