...because the admission that someone else, or some other country does something better/knows more than us...results in the piercing of the individual narcissistic, collective narcissistic ("in-group"), or national narcissistic ("American Exceptionalism") sense of grandiosity. 2/
The piercing of the individual/collective narcissism not only creates a resistance to learning....but more importantly, it creates hostility to "sources" of learning/information.
