A thread on tarot reading basics (for clients and readers):
First of all! Tarot is not evil, it captures the energy of the people involved in the reading to show an outcome of the situation, it has nothing to do with spirits or something supernatural (although the reader can use it for that purpose, but we’ll get into that later)
Let’s star with the clients!
Hello clients! For some reason you have decided to get a tarot reading, that’s cool! Here’s what you need to know:
•If it’s your first time, don’t get nervous! Nothing bad can happen to you
•NO ONE can predict death. The Death card does not mean physical death, it just means a cycle or situation will end and a new one will emerge. If you get a tarot reading and they for some reason predict your death, DO NOT believe them. No one can do so.
•Some readers may ask you to shuffle the cards, while others don’t. Both are fine.
•Yes, long distance readings do work.
•Always make sure the price for a reading isn’t extreMELY high (it’s probably a scam). I suggest you to look for prices on the internet and compare them
•Most importantly!!!!! Tarot is not a sentence, just a guide. As I said, it might predict an outcome based on the energy, but it does NOT control your future/destiny. As a person you have free will and any decision in your life is up to you.
Now let’s move to readers!
Do you want to learn how to read tarot cards? Here are some things you need to know:
•It is a myth that your first tarot deck has to be a gift. You can buy any deck you like and feel attracted to.
•Yes! You do need to clean it when it’s brand new
Here are some ways to clean your tarot deck, you can do the one you prefer:
-Light incense and take your time to pass each card trough the smoke
-Wrap your cards in silk/cloth, or you can keep them in their box, and bury them in salt for a day
-Clean them with energy!
For the energy cleasing:
Take your deck between your deck between your hands, close your eyes, breathe deeply and visualize a white bright light coming out of your hands. This light is your energy and it’s helping clean the cards of ant past energy they might’ve caught
•Real the booklet that comes with your tarot deck, it will give you the general meaning of the cards and some other associations (this depends on each deck). The original tarot is the Rider Waite tarot (most decks are based on it)
•You can also look for meanings online, I recommend the Biddy Tarot website
•If you have a divination guide book, great! You can buy one if you want to, but it’s not necessary
•For the readings:
-Start with your friends and people of trust for practice
-Once you feel confident enough, try with strangers or people who are not close to you (because you don’t know them you can’t let your feelings chance the outcome of the reading)
-Ask your client what they want to know (the more specific the question, the more specific the result)
-You can choose if you want them to shuffle the cards or if you want to shuffle them (if you shuffle them, focus on the other person and their energy)
-There are some specific spreads for certain readings, you can choose to do these spreads or just pull the cards you feel are necessary
I’ll continue with more specifications and related stuff later ☺️
•Ways to bond with your cards•
If you own a deck, you can “get closer” to it, or bond with your deck
Some ways are:
•Sleeping with your deck under your pillow
•Shuffling your deck and doing a daily reading (with one or two cards) for yourself
•Taking out a card and taking some time to analyze the illustration. Every card has a story to be told.
•Interviewing your deck (I’ll leave the spread here)
•Tarot deck general facts•

Tarot decks have 78 cards, divided into Major Arcana (first 21 cards) and Minor Arcana.
Major Arcana shows the overall energy and general aspects, while Minor Arcana clarifies the message and deals with specific characteristics.
