The Western left complains a lot about not being taken seriously and it’s genuinely hard to when they so easily buy into right-wing Serbian ethnonationalist propaganda. Why would I trust you on anything else when you platform people who are proud of genocide?

The thing I want to ask these types of western lefties is just why? Is it just ignorance? Are you all that easily bought? Is it just deeply ingrained Islamophobia? Serbia isn’t under attack. It costs them and you nothing to admit the suffering caused to us. But we still are.

Bosniaks are still finding mass graves. Bosniaks are still burying loved ones 25 years later. RS Serb lobby spends millions, almost more than any other country on lobbying the US on genocide denial. Bosniak returnees are still victims of daily attacks, revisionism, destruction.

How can you call yourselves leftists but buy into right-wing propaganda? How can you say that you’re for the working class when a country that’s almost entirely working class who is suffering daily, whose homes have been destroyed, stolen, who cannot return home is ignored by u?

How do you find yourselves mourning the NATO attack on the RTS building, the equivalent of Fox News, where 16 people died but not the literally thousands and thousands of Bosniaks who were massacred for being Bosniak and Muslim? Who were tortured in concentration camps? How?

These people go after Jasmin Mujanovic and the like because Jasmin is a liberal-ish and therefore an easy target. They don’t go after me because everyone is aware of my socialist politics and organising. They completely ignore ex-Yugoslav leftists.

If you are so certain that you are correct, why not engage in a conversation with me and other Balkan leftists rather than calling out some of our more liberal people as “NATO funded whatevertf”. Why are you so afraid of me?

& anytime they have tried to debate me on this, I’ve shut them down, I’ve disputed their propaganda over and over again. I’m not just a genocide survivor, I’m a genocide researcher, I studied it and I lived it. Come on. The jig is up. You’re just embarrassing the entire left now.

My advice for the Western left: get these people out of your movements. You will never win over the Global South/Third World while you continue to speak over us and chose propaganda over the difficult truth.

Sorry for the rant. But it’s genuinely disheartening, difficult, and absolutely heartbreaking that 25 years after we went through hell we have to continue to fight so hard for people to take our pain and the truth seriously.
