Guys, I wanna tell you about a trip I just took.

“How,” you all ask, “with all these needed restrictions in place?”

Simple. I took that trip to Flavortown (1/x)
You see, the other night, my lovely girlfriend and I made a delightful dinner. She, a gifted pasta chef, prepared a toothsome yet pillowy gnocchi. Haven’t recently learned the skill, I made a delicious marinara from San Marzano tomatoes.

As you can imagine, it was perfect. (2/x)
But a rounded meal requires a side dish to balance the main course. On this we all must agree! (Pause cries of agreement, assorted huzzahs).

Enter fresh broccoli. (3/x)
“But Eric,” some have said, “red sauce with broccoli? But how!?”

To toss these fresh greens in a red sauce would be calumny, a genuine farce of cookery, a grave error for which I would be caught committing...red handed (pause for laughter). 4/x
No, my friends. I rinsed this broccoli and carefully separated the florets from their stalks.

“Good my, how bland” you say.

Of course this preparation would be bland, with nary a pinch of salt to accent this beautiful flora’s luster. (5/x)
No, my friends! I tossed these verdant florets in olive oil and the juice of one half of a lemon.

And then, of course, entered an amount of salt sufficient to enliven the flavor of the dish AND NOT A GRAIN MORE (6/x)
Upon lovingly coating the florets, I roasted them in a hot oven for 18 of the lord’s minutes.

“My,” you now explain to your loved ones, “this certainly is a cat of a happy crew. This must be sufficient to satisfy the tongue AND the tummy.”

And yet, the cookery goes on (7/x)
Once removed from this fiery oven, the now roasted vegetable was tossed in freshly grated Parmesan, and a tea’s spoon of black pepper.

The crunch of these greens, plucked from the earth and brought to our tables, danced with the tender gnocchi to render a balanced meal (8/x)
Now friends, in recent hours, the quality of this meal was besmirched.

I’ve learned to forgive and let love banish hate from my heart and skull. But I knew, in my core, that a full throated defense must be mounted.

Gathering my thoughts, I have put tweet to twitter. (9/x)
Let this thread be a testament to a delicious, healthy meal, of course, but let it also be a testament to the power of love.

Thank you. Also, Brussels sprouts would have been a good accompaniment as well (end).
