A lot of people would disagree with me on this but I think caste based reservation is a bane for the newer generation. Please bear to read through this thread to understand why I think so. This is my personal opinion, no ill intentions. (1/10)
I am an upper caste boy from a middle class family (sorry for that), but I never knew what castes meant and how some castes were lower and some were upper. I had most of my friends from lower caste in school, which I came to know later. (2/10)
Even when I was introduced to these things by my social science books, I didn't really care about it. But then when I reached 11th grade, I saw how being from a reserved category helps, this lead to the class being divided into groups. (3/10)
These groups were simply for and against, my bestfriend (lower caste, but rich) was in the for group of reservation. These groups started a hate war with each other, and a person like me who has always been indecisive couldn't choose as both were right in their own ways (4/10)
This lead to me being in neither groups (tbh I am glad that it was so), but this made my bestfriend drift apart from me. He made new bestfriends from the group. After all this, came the competitive exams and the ranting from the unreserved groups. (5/10)
This only increased the hate war between the groups and came to the point where there were disciplinary actions taken against someone for discriminating. I lost my bestfriend because of this caste based reservation. (6/10)
What I want to say is that even though caste based reservation has it's merits, the newer generation doesn't care about it unless they face the consequences of it, the groups were made only after people came to know how reservation affects their lives. (7/10)
I know that there are so many poor lower caste people who can't afford anything, but won't they get in the poverty based reservation? Casteism affects mostly those who are poor, but this caste based reservation recreates these gaps for all classes. (8/10)
I know both the systems for reservation have their merits and demerits, but in my personal opinion (you're free to disagree), the caste based reservation has more disadvantages. (9/10)
I also understand that casteism is still present in rural places in india, but once anyone gets rich, it matters lesser. So, a poverty based reservation can also solve that. I'm sorry if this thread hurt anyone, that wasn't my intention. Thanks for reading till here. (10/10)
