contrasting AJK's reflection vs Gwen's - its really telling where folks are coming from. AJK & cis partners/parents like her invest in allyship - in part - for their self-interest & that's why their allyship is conditional. which means its NOT allyship. Gwen is being generous.
at the end of the day, this is bigger than AJK vs. Gwen (& the fact that there's even the concept of "teams" is gross). whether they work it out personally is not our business, & at the same time - the jig is up. there is a conversation to be had (of many. again. & again.)
there r too many AJKs out there, amassing financial & social capital frm their affiliation w marginalized ppl. if we're weighing all the "good things" against the "bad" then we've set ourselves up to fail. this is about RELATIONSHIPS & ACCOUNTABILITY & th work that comes frm that
pointing out an issue IS NOT THE PROBLEM. th issue that is being pointed out is the *actual problem*. & so r efforts by enablers to distract & derail from it (complicity).

we need to normalize observing, naming, and identifying oppression & abuse of power/privilege/social agency. its totally possible to have these conversations & rectify the power imbalances w/o anyone leaving kicking & screaming. how we react & what we do next is always a choice.
extractive, performative allyship is taking a toll & creating EXTRA work.

cis people & "allies" generally rly need to ask:
- what makes me *entitled* to trans spaces?
- what makes me think im *needed*?
- who benefits from my presence?
- who is sidelined/ignored/harmed as a result?
- who am i accountable to?
- who's labour do i rely on when i fuck up?

theres so much labour frm trans women & TMA trans femmes that goes unnoticed, ignored, ridiculed, or punished by "allies". at least we know where TERFs stand. those doubling down on transmisogyny & throwing trans women of colour under th bus: get it together or GET OUT OF THE WAY
