/TW abuse
It's really hard trying to talk to fanpols 1 to 1... a lot of them have very personal issues with problematic fiction that are rooted in trauma, and it's a huge challenge making them understand that yes, their trauma would've still happened if bad fiction didn't exist..

People who have been unable to properly address their trauma with professionals need some sort of outlet, so they use dark fiction and, by extension, its creators as that outlet, because they can't hurt their abusers back, and they can't erase their own trauma...

They don't see dark fiction as a tool of grooming in the same vein as other grooming tools, such as pets, videogames, affection, etc. They see it as inherently necessary for the abuser, "if they didn't have dark fiction they wouldn't have abused me"

And it's so... near impossible to get it through their heads, "no, this would've happened with everything else, it would've happened with your favorite book, with your favorite movie, with the affection they'd expertly withdraw and give to make you Listen. I'm sorry"

You can't "retrospectively stop" your abuse. It happened, and the tool wasn't the issue, the abuser was. The person who groomed you, who violated you, who hurt you: that was the one to blame, the one at fault.

I'm sorry, I wish it was as easy as destroying the tool, but it's not
