My first job out of college was in the marketing dept at our local PBS station. Every summer, the station hosted an annual event in Forest Park for kids to meet and take photos with Clifford, Arthur, Curious George, etc

It was a popular free event and a lot of staff members including myself volunteered to dress up in these giant Six Flags-esque character costumes.

Somehow I ended up in the Clifford the Big Red Dog suit. I’m only 5’2, so when I put it on, my nose only came up to the Clifford’s mouth, meaning I couldn’t see anything

Everyone in a character suit gets a “handler” - another volunteer who leads you around because you’re in a giant costume and oh by the way you’re not allowed to talk. That’s rule #2 after don’t take your head off in front of children
