Listen I know I’m not like a big account on here and I’m usually just your average leftist shitposting Andy. But I really think it’s important to say this to my fellow extremely online leftists: Cut the shit. The biggest gift that we can give those in power is us fighting us.
I’m so fucking tired of logging in everyday and seeing us at each others throats and scattered to the wind. There’s no winning against the behemoth that is capital if we aren’t united and we focus on tearing each other down instead of uplifting each other.
Like yeah I see people on the timeline with takes I don’t agree with, Sometimes the takes I see are dogshit, but at the end of the day I’m not going to use my account to tear someone down because of a relatively minor disagreement in the grand scheme of things.
Obviously reactionary elements in the movement shouldn’t be tolerated. I would never ask any of you to accept and fight alongside bigots. But what I am asking you to do is to not be jumping at the chance to shame someone when they make a mistake or two.
None of us are perfect, we’re all gonna say or do the wrong thing every once in awhile, things are going to be taken in a way we might not have thought of. But going at each other’s throats and disowning each other for making a mistake is not how the left builds strength.
And I’m not saying to just let people off the hook when they say or do something out of pocket. I’m just saying if some slips up feel free to correct them but also be willing to forgive them if they admit their wrong and sincerely apologize.
And I know that it’s not the job of the marginalized to educate the privileged so if you see someone who’s supposed to be a comrade talking reckless on the TL and you don’t feel comfortable interacting,
My DMs are always open, let me know and I’ll do my best to set them straight. And That goes double for me since I’m the one typing out this long ass thread. If I fuck up feel free to let me know. I don’t ever want to end up hurting someone with my ignorance.
To wrap this all up, The reason why I got into this shit in the first place is because I believe that a better world is possible. I believe in a world where we all care about each other, where we aren’t constantly trying to kick each other down to feel better about ourselves.
And it feels nice to have hope that it’s actually possible if the left could come together and actually challenge our oppressors. And I never want to lose that hope.
