Yesterday I did a takeover of @travisalabanza's Instagram to talk about Trans activism in the UK. Thx to everyone who engaged. I thought I'd do a little thread to share headlines on here including 5 things you can do to support trans folks in the UK now: 1/10
5 things you can do to support trans people right now:
1. take action:
(a) sign this @Change petition https://bit.ly/2xYr7qa
(b) write to your MP about concerns to trans people in light of Liz Truss' statement, here's how from @TheKiteTrust : https://bit.ly/2T5rVRr  4/10
2. Keep an eye out for news being buried about how anti-trans politic and policies are spreading under the radar during the pandemic and share them to raise awareness e.g. Colombia https://bit.ly/3dHA1ro , Hungary https://bit.ly/3bxQflx , USA https://bit.ly/3fNy3aY  5/10
3. Validate Us! Trans ppl are isolated, precarious workers, living in hostile environments rn. Smile at us to let us know we are safe, validate trans ppl u know with caring msgs, send nice msgs to trans ppl doing gr8 things on social. See this thread: https://bit.ly/2T300ll  6/10
5. Make small changes where you are. Transphobia is big, but changes can be small & have huge impact e.g. work in a shop? ungender toilets/clothes, have work emails/zoom calls? ask people to share pronouns, work in reproductive health? think about language for trans people 9/10
and a bonus one of more things you can do: hire us! set up monthly donations! learn bystander training! sharing and lifting up trans work and artists! Celebrate us beyond our harrassment! Put more fundraisers and ideas for solidarity in comments :) 10/10
