OKAY THOUGHTS ON THE NEW PAPER MARIO — a self-indulgent thread

i think im just being incredibly stupid and emotional but i yelled so LOUD when i saw the tweet. nintendo rlly had the audacity to drop a new release like “oh, yeah! new paper mario btw!” I COULDNT FUCKING BREATHE

PEACH!!! BAD!!!! possessed? we don’t know! i’m so excited to know aaaaaa i hope this doesn’t flop like the black paint from colour splash bc that one rlly had potential and it just went :(

IDK WHY I WAS HOOKED FROM START TO FINISH JUST. JUST AAAAAA. the visuals are so gorgeous?? that’s expected from a switch game at this point im easy to please— BUT PLEASE?? THEY’RE EXPERIMENTING WITH OTHER MATERIAL???? AND IT LOOKS SOOO GOOD

AND I THINK BOWSER MIGHT BE?????? JOINING FORCES WITH MARIO THIS TIME???? IM SO EXCITED FOR THAT OH MY GOOOD FINALLY THEY JOIN FORCES OMG AAAAAAAAAA

like in the trailer it shows mario escaping on the koopa copter and i just. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa *sobs*

battle system i can’t rlly talk abt it much since um. i wasnt rlly paying attention HDBDJFKC it looks like a puzzle thing? and also there looks like an equivalent of cards/stickers which i’m really worried abt given the reception ss and cs got :(

i mean i never played either but i saw gameplay and honestly it kinda ruins the flow of the battle/intense moments so it’s just like ;; i hope whatever this new mechanic is won’t be that bad... or at least give it elements from the old battle system...

but!!! in general!!! i’m actually pretty excited for this game!!! i’m very willing to give it a chance. i really wanted to play a new paper mario game and that’s exactly what i’m getting!!

i get to see him again...tonight i will pray for the koopalings’ return.

looks alright. idk how it’ll play out but i hope they figure out some cool uses of this mechanic too

also plot wise i am hoping it is more than this... but rn it seems like the standard “evil guy wants to take over mushroom kingdom, mario needs to save it.” with the added “oh, bowser’s here too.”

the plots of ss and cs were really barebones despite good dialogue/writing, so—

—i do hope this one will be more than that :( i want a deep story like spm again...

!!!!! LOOKS FUN!!! NO MORE CONSUMABLE ITEMS YES FINALLY GOOD THEY FIXED IT. the ring puzzle thing adds another layer to strategy too, like how you’ll line up your foes to attack. fun. i like that.
