this, as a widespread normalized thing, is just starting
for those just tuning in ayahusca is at least exponentially more powerful than more common psys when theyre done at what we see as normal doses (acid, shrooms) + in a few years we’ve gone from “literally have to go to the amazon to do it” to “not hard to find in major US cities”
so youre basically sitting on a giant powder keg where the most powerful psychedelic on the planet that is characterized by transporting experiences or “meeting” beings is being released into western culture while also being promoted by mainstream figures like rogan vice news etc
it all meets at this nexus where youre currently standing because we also have the general spiritual crisis in western culture, people being “spiritual but not religion”, a vacuum that must be filled essentially, stacked on other factors like widespread depression + drug use etc
it stacks on other things too like general obsession w aliens, phobia of established conventions, im not going to go over the whole thing here but its a bunch of flammable material + flames all in the same locker. consider the effect LSD had culturally coming out of [the 1950s]
theres also other factors most people wouldnt consider unless u went hard into it + hung around in “that scene” like, do you think the people organizing these ayahuasca sessions check if the participants are on SSRIs or something? or have a history of mental problems? they do not
so you have what like 12% (just guessing) of people on antidepressants, ayahuasca operates via an MAOI, kinda sketchy man. so you have these new age yoga people administering the most powerful psychedelic (imo, dmt) plus an MAOI to anyone who signs up lmao. thats actually real
anyway i havent posted about it in a while so just catching people up. also theres no data but i assure you almost every major US city has groups doing ayahuasca ceremonies. my friend moved to the very rural [middle of nowhere] + theres a group that does it there. think about it
oh yeah one other thing. whenever i post about this some people are like “yeah but i know a guy who did this and got his life together, stopped smoking, got a job finally” or something. that is true. but there is a nefarious element to the benefit there that no one sees. [...]
when you take a random person like that and give them a substance like this and it “fixes” (would say appears to fix but i can be neutral) certain issues in their life, you can say thats good, but what happens long term is youve taught them subconsciously that they needed it. ...
so over 3, 5, more, years, the people that get positive effects from it have it subconsciously wired into their brain that they needed it to fix them, that this was the only thing that could do it, and imo that also shifts your worldview over time in a different but powerful way.
that is just my own observation. i have seen that many times. so yeah you may know people that it benefited (ostensibly) but, how it affects them long term and what it does to their conception of “how to change yourself” and their own agency is another story entierly. imo.
so people have personal stories + stuff but, i think, large scale, from where im sitting its pretty clear where the vector of all this stuff is pointing. really theres many stacking vectors that all amplify each other so, i think only a few people have really put it all together
