1.) Counter Counterpicks
Have you ever played against a person who mains a char that you didn't really mind to play against but you REALLY didn't want to fight their weird pocket or secondary? In these cases the solution is simple: (1/3)

You have to make the first game as close as possible! The best way to do that is do get them to last stock high percents first before letting them make a comeback. Personally I like to cut it when I'm on last stock ~50-60% but depending on your char you can go even further! (2/3)
This is especially good cause you give them the feeling that they've started to 'figure' you or the MU out so it's more likely that they'll just stick with their main. Also don't forget to make an audible 'phew' sound after the game to show them that you struggled at the end!
2.) Camera trick
Against some characters that have to somewhat sweetspot/snap the ledge (like Lucina, Mario etc.) you can simply edgeguard them by going REALLY far offstage. It's not about hitting them but it's important that you somewhat fake it so they get pressured (1/2)

What's gonna happen is that they won't see the stage anymore since the camera is way too far offstage! It's very consistent and works better on stages like BF where the bottom blastzone is deeper (so more room for the camera to shift). This advice is even better combined with 3.)
3.) Flinch/Head bop
A very known tech in smash 4 that was especially good for all the 50/50's is to simply bait out an airdodge by doing an irl flinch/head bop. While it's less used in this game due to less 50/50's, you can still use it for situations like (1/2)

Chrom/Roy Jab -> flinch (the harder the better) -> airdodge bait -> Fsmash. Another good situation is offstage when you're edgeguarding someone, since you can bait out a reaction with no risk. It's especially deadly in combination with advice 2.) !
4.) Lean forward
The 'lean forward' position while sitting is very popular in competitive play and if you do it correctly, your opponent will get less space for themselves and in best case scenarios they'll even see less of the gameplay! In order to master this tech, (1/2)

try to move closer to the screen with your chair each time something happens by leaning back first (takin a 'breather') and then lean forward. Situations where you can use it are: After the fist bump, after taking/losing a stock, after getting combo'd for a while etc.
