The most aggravating thing about these condescending faux socialists is how they categorically refer to anyone as “low wagers”.

Dealt with one of those today: when I pointed out my cleaner is a professional who does something very important to me he assumed she earned high wages
I’ll tell you why this infuriates me: it supports the idea that anyone earning low wages is of a category set apart from being valuable or skilled.

Too many valuable people aren’t valued.

I give my cleaner a raise when she’ll accept one, but if I didn’t, she’d still be valuable
I wish I could afford to be anyone’s sole employer rather than one of many clients. I’d try hard to make that the best job.

It costs NOTHING to respect the people who help me as people, no matter what they are able to earn.

How can people claim to be socialists & not do that?
I know most of you get this.

But if you claim to be a socialist, communist, etc, but can’t see the deep-seated contempt for people who work unglamorous jobs thrown about under that label— read your own opinions.

Read them as if the “lowest” people you mention are actually you.
People who clean, who care for others, who keep the machinery of life running— they’re not some monolithic group that needs to be rescued.

I just read an excellent thread expressing that so I won’t retread it.

We’re going to get a hard lesson in how valuable they are, though.
I see people joking about the inevitable day when these preachy idiots have to do actual work and… maybe I’m alone in really not looking forward to that day.

They’ll suck at it.

The people being put at risk just aren’t that easily replaced. People keep assuming they are.
You can’t just shove anyone into these jobs and expect life to work out well. And it’s actually really difficult to keep modern life functional without them.

They’re not “low skilled”.

If you’re one of them, and you care about maintaining high standards—you’re deeply valuable x
