Villanelle’s mommy issues :

let’s start with this bitch right here. Tatiana Astankova is very much the root of Villanelle’s issues. as her bio mom, she literally rejected her daughter because she could see the same “darkness” inside of V that she had inside herself. the first betrayal that V experienced was

her mother leaving her at the orphanage because she couldn’t deal with the fact that Villanelle was 1. much more adept at hiding/using her darkness and 2. better at manipulating people (such as V’s father).

not to mention, Tatiana has shown emotionally abusive tendencies with her children (such as telling Bor’ka that he was an embarrassment and he was stupid) which is the reason for his self harm (hitting his head against the wall). so, it’s clear from V’s

“I hurt myself, it doesn’t hurt” speech, she was subject to the psychological torture as well. Tatiana quite literally nurtured V’s psychopathic nature because of her own self-hate and when V began to behave accordingly, Tatiana dropped her like a bad habit.

next up, we got this angry ho. dasha, aka V’s stage mom. she trained villanelle, was tough with her (which probably had a nostalgic familiarity because of her bio mom). but also gave her the attention and affection she craved, telling her “you are destined

for greatness.” and V needed that. and then BOOM , she betrayed V. although I cannot wait to see how. and that was something that was all too familiar to V. even vowing to Konstantin that she would kill her. BAM. mommy issue cemented.

next we’ve got “extra attention Anna” who quite literally crossed the line and turned V’s Electra complex into a sapphic Oedipus complex. she was balm to soothe V’s wounded spirit. she praised Villanelle, encouraged her. and then

allowed Villanelle to seduce her. because let’s be honest, she was the adult in this situation (physically? although I have thoughts on this for another thread) emotionally. so, they Anna started fucking on V and vice versa and then BOOM , V kills her husband because
