Critical new report out today from @EURightsAgency on progress & perceptions of LGBTQIA+ rights between 2012 & 2019. Among other findings, 60% of queer folks in Europe always/often feel unsafe holding hands with their same-sex partner https://fra.europa.eu/en/publication/2020/eu-lgbti-survey-results
There are lots of other results (reporting incidents, mental health, harassment, safety...). I could tweet them all, but at least scroll through & look at the figures. The UK does not stack up particularly well
When folks ask what it's like being queer in STEM, I usually answer that it's like being straight in STEM, with all the pressures, challenges, & problems that exist in research, with the added layer of the challenges, pressures of being queer on top. These results are what I mean
