As a matter of interest, deleting a tweet - or even deleting your account - does not mean any defamation didn’t happen. It’s often a good idea, but the action of tweeting still happened. The defamation still happened.

And *every* MP should know that any tweet they do that looks ‘dodgy’ will almost certainly be screen-shotted by many people within seconds of their tweeting it.

And I know it goes against the grain for politicians, but an honest, open and clear apology as early as possible is generally a very good idea in these kinds of circumstances.
