Some directors expect too much from us ( a thread)
*SORRY FOR ANY SPELLING MISTAKES LOL*

Now I don’t mean they expect too much from us period. I mean that there are taking us for granted in a way. They expect us to give in studio quality voice work for free legit all the time. Like people come into my DM’s and ask me to do voice lines for them.

But the second I even bring up the word “payment” it’s an issue. I used to do stuff for free because I was kinda new at it and like “aha I just need experience”

But now that I’ve been doing this for a while I’m hearing a lot of this. “You’ll get exposure” but like... exposure doesn’t help me pay for better equipment to be able to bring in more clients. But then I saw that “scream for us” post and just kinda thought about it for a minute

A lot of people like hiring new actors who don’t have rates and are willing to do stuff for free because payment seems too good for them and exposure is all they could ask for. That’s exactly how I was. And I’m realizing how stupid it was to think that and ngl feelin kinda dumb.

In know this was originally about directors expecting too much from va’s and stuff which it sorta is because they are expecting such good quality and they don’t have to spend a dime on that quality. It’s worse when the director hints at payment and then doesn’t pay you.

There have been a few instances where people come into my DM’s, not even ask but TELL me to voice for them and then when I bring up payment they ask if I have PayPal. I say yes and all that and ya know what they say? “Cool I hope you use it sometime” and then

Proceed to ask if I know any va’s who will do the work for free -_-
I take voice acting seriously. And if directors want quality work they should be willing to pay for that work. You aren’t going to get your hands on a diamon without paying good money for it

Or....stealing it. But if you steal someone voice work for your own personal gang *cough cough* the incident with when someone stole my boi @MorphyVA audio. Let va twitter get a whiff of that and ur gone bro... we don’t tolerate thieves especially when it’s already difficult
