The North East & Yorkshire has the highest #Covid19 R value according to work produced by @MRC_BSU at the University of Cambridge.

The high R value means the NE & Yorks is at greater risk of #Covid19 spreading through the community when compared to other parts of the country.
The R value is an important measure of the spread of #coronavirus. R value of +1 means one infected person might infect at least one other person The government has talked about introducing regional restrictions in some areas if infection rates tick up
For context when lockdown began in the UK it was though the R value for the whole country was above 3. Meaning one infected person was likely to infect 3 others.
Details about the regional R values can be found here https://joshuablake.github.io/public-RTM-reports/ My own interpretation for the region is that the high R value is driven by places in the North East and Cumbria where infection rates and death rates are much higher than in large parts of Yorkshire.
