I& #39;ve been upset by the attacks on women on twitter this week. So I wanted to say, if you& #39;re a cleaner, I see you. If you& #39;re a stressed out mum, I see you. If you& #39;re sick & need help at home, I see you. If you& #39;re working til 3am & caring for babies during the day, I see you.
If you& #39;re a key worker who comes home to the & #39;second shift& #39;, I see you. If you& #39;re a low paid worker or self-employed, I see you. If you& #39;re on a temporary contract & need to overwork because you& #39;re scared of redundancy...(well I see you & I am you!)
We all have stresses, strains, & expectations placed upon us. Many have insecure work, uneven power relations, or workplaces hostile to women (especially mothers). Let& #39;s avoid sweeping statements & attacking each other in response to a generalized tweet from a & #39;time-rich& #39; man
Let& #39;s listen & understand people& #39;s lives. Let& #39;s attack work quality, lack of employment rights & protections, or low benefit levels, & then let& #39;s demand better laws & social security. Not nit-picking at decisions from individual households & guilt-ridden women in 140 characters.
I suspect I& #39;ll now get attacked for this thread. But why, after 7 weeks, are we turning our attention to bullying individuals rather than imagining how the state can create a new approach to care & domestic work, proper sick-pay, & empowering employees to protect their health.
