y’all I’d like to put your attention on fast fashion issues again. We all know primark and other big cheap fashion houses are not an ethical place to shop at. In terms of corona, conditions have become even worse.
Fast fashion retailers have contracts with factories in bangladesh and other low wage developing countries in the global south. Those contracts work in a way where the brand pays the factory AFTER they finished and shipped their (large!) order within a certain amount of time.
after corona outbreak, some fast fashion retailers simply cancelled their payments on finished collection orders or orders in process - not collections planned for the future, they simply refuse to fullfill their part of the contract.
This is not only unacceptable under law, its also potentially costing thousands of workers who depend on this income their jobs. Majority of the seamstresses in those factories are women.
After Rana Plaza 7 years ago, ethics obviously haven’t changed, have they? @Primark
please make a conscious decision and DO NOT shop at those brands. They will only change if there is enough public pressure.
Educate yourselves on the topic and tell your friends.

@JustineLeconteo speaks about these issues in detail on her youtube channel
(the graphic I posted is from her video.)
The documentary “the true cost” is very eye opening as well.
now it doesn’t really make sense in this business to separate between “good” and “evil” since all fast fashion brands have dirt on their hands, and I know that most of us can’t afford order made or high end clothes.
but there are affordable ways around asos, around primark and around fast fashion in general. I do think it is possible to avoid at least those brands on the right side of the list, for ethics and environmental sake. Please be aware of your power as a consumer.
I’d be thankful if you shared this thread or parts of it because this topic is very dear to me and a lot of people need frequent reminders on this issue; perhaps as well there are brands on the list that you didn’t expect there too.
