tonight on the @PHAccelerator happy hour, @bldgtyp's ed may asked a pretty challenging question:

with all the work that needs to be done to reduce energy consumption in buildings - is your firm positioned to grow and scale up to meet this (coming? maybe?) demand?
i've been a fan of ed's work for.... yikes probably nearly a decade now.

and it's an interesting question.

ed posited that architects/planners/PH consultants need 'jigs' - just as carpenters do - to simplify and expedite processes.
this is also sort of the holy grail of BIM - the computer does all the thinking, the data is easily extracted. right now, there's a lot of workarounds.

one of the things i was working in in germany, was trying to integrate archicad, grasshopper, and costing. sh*t was hard!
but i also think it's the wrong approach.

i mentioned in the chat thread that land use was a bigger issue, and got an email challenging me a bit on this.

but i'm not wrong! ;)
but what do dumb boxes have to do with perimeter blocks.

well, i've talked at length about this in the past. most recently this thread: https://twitter.com/holz_bau/status/1223715869848752129?s=20
