My farming friends, Neil Parish amendment time the new U.K. Gov agri bill banning import of lower standard foods and welfare practice has been defeated, David Mundell, John Lamont Alistair Jack david Duguid and Andrew Bowie, Tory MPs all voted against, remember this
When you add to this, the fact that trade discussions with the US are underway now, just as beef prices have started to creep up because of shortage, do you think there will EVER be tight supplies witha US trade deal? Mark these conversations
US have already stated that food labelling must be taken off the table, and if we deal with USfavourably, under WHI every other agri producing member gets same treatment, where are the promises of milk and honey post Brexit now??
It should also be remembered that @DavidMundellDCT has the largest rural constituency in the UK and all other Tory MPs represent large rural areas and populations. Lobby fodder for their party rather than MPs for the people who voted for them
It should also be remembered, this not only lets down farming businesses, it lets down consumers who wish to support quality sustainable agriculture to protect the environment and their own health. With floods of cheap imports, farmers either drop their standards or disappear ...
Leaving nothing but the imports to choose from. There is no such thing as cheap food, if it doesn’t cost you money, the costs is environmental or welfare. It’s clear now what our environment impacts are, and we should be doing everything to halt the decline.
